Crystal Lanes — Local services in Town of Corning

On 5/8 my wife and I took her new bowling ball to Crystal Lanes’ Pro Shop to get it drilled and fitted. Both of us were very frustrated with the guy in the shop’s attitude and how he made my wife feel insulted by his impatience with her for her not understanding what he wanted her to do with her fingers, hand, arm, etc. She is an inexperienced bowler and he seemed to get a kick out of asserting his control over her and barking at her when she didn’t understand what he wanted as to how to hold her fingers or hand or wrist. We had bowled at Crystal Lanes once and liked it there but based on this experience we don’t plan to return (even if we have to pay for adjustments to this new ball somewhere else). Maybe next customer this guy can show somewhat of a kinder attitude and understand that he knows what he wants but sometimes the customers do not. We had family visiting from out of town and we decided to go bowling with them and our kids. Everyone had a really fun time. It was a Friday night and wasn't overcrowded. The staff were all nice and were helpful. They have a special going on right now on Friday nights that you can bowl for $3 a game, and that includes your shoe rental. You really can't beat that.

We got some snacks from the snack bar while they were there. I thought they were fairly priced, especially in comparison to some other places you go out to. The food was all made fresh, which is always a plus.

Don't buy a ball or have them drill the ball there. Totally messed up my 2 kids bowling balls two years ago was not made aware until start of this season. The guy had nasty attitude and acted inconvenience. For an entire bowling season my kids bowled with incorrect drilled balls. Couldn't figure out why my kids were struggling and plateau. Got new balls from different pro shop and the guy showed us all the mistakes they had made with drilling. Their bowling immediately improved significantly. I feel ripped off.
