Old Red Barn Auction — Local services in Town of Deerpark

This last auction was a nightmare. The older auctioneer was unfamiliar with his products, rude (and mean) to his employees, and occasionally insulting to his bidders if they didn't meet his expectations calling them cheap. Missing bids happens, but he made it a habit. A number of times bidders lost out on good deals because their bid didn't satisfy the auctioneer so he waited, and waited, and cajoled the crowd to bid. A few times this gave bidders time to look up an item on their phones and then bid accordingly; This is what a preview is for and sucks the fun out of a LIVE auction.

In addition, the auction house was hot and dirty, parking was bad, and the box lot/specials auction was unorganized and held in front of the main door.

On the plus side, the staff in the kitchen was friendly and fast. The young man who stepped in to run the auction for a few minutes was MUCH better.

I have gone to The Red Barn Auction almost every month for the last three years. Many country auctions are people just cleaning out their basements, but not at Red Barn. The auctions there have top quality antiques, marvelous trinkets, and real treasure finds. It does take place in a barn! Thisisi a REAL country auction. The pace of the auction is lightning-speed-frantic, which is the best part for me. What fun! The food at the country buffet is like a local, church dinner, and ALWAYS tasty! I leave that auction thoroughly entertained by the experienced and witty auctioneer, Vinny, with a packed car full of treasures and only a couple of dollars out of my wallet. Great Auction house! This has been around for a long time. This season I hear there will be 2 auctions a month. There are always unique finds here. It's a fun and exciting night out plus they have a new lady providing tasty food, snacks and drinks. The peanut butter cookies were yummy.
