After thinking about this situation for far longer than I should have, Iāve come to the conclusion that by removing my original review of this business, I only gave the owner exactly what she wanted. She clearly has no interest in accepting or addressing any negative feedback. As a business owner, there were many ways this could have been handled. Unfortunately, she chose to twist the situation to fit her own narrative, embellishing the details to paint me as a horrible person. Let me explain what actually happened. Iām not on social media, but a friend sent me a screenshot from the Duvall Farms Facebook page showcasing strawberries and sourdough bread - it looked amazing. I told my partner we had to stop by. Weāve been customers before, and I expected nothing more than a quick visit to support a local business. Instead, it turned into an attack on my character. We had our pets in the car, so the plan was for me to run in quickly. But when we arrived, my partner said he really needed to use the restroom. I told him to go ahead, and Iād go in once he came back. He used the same door weāve both used in the past to access the restroom facilities. At the time, the girl at the counter was having a personal conversation with a young man from the local brewery (regardless of how the owner has chosen to spin the story) and never acknowledged him entering. As my partner walked through the door, he heard her say āExcuse me,ā but didnāt stop. He used the porta-potty outside - not the trailer. The owner later claimed the trailer wasn't hooked up to water and could be damaged if used, and thatās why the staff tried to stop him. What she failed to mention was that there was also a porta-potty - which requires no plumbing and was what he used. When he returned to the car, I went in to find the items we were looking for. Again, the girl at the counter didnāt acknowledge me. She was still talking with the young man and made a derogatory comment about "the guy who went through the door." The young man then walked away and lingered in the store, so I assumed he also worked there. The girl then put a sign on the door - I didnāt read it, so I canāt say what it said. I looked around but couldnāt find the items I came for, and during the entire time, no one said a word to me. As I exited, I simply said, from about ten feet away, āBased on how you handled the restroom situation and my experience today, I will be posting a negative review on Facebook.ā I donāt even use Facebook - I meant Google - but that was the extent of what I said. The owner later accused me of getting in the girlās face, wagging my finger, threatening her, and trying to get her fired. None of that happened. She spun the story to fit her narrative and portray me as someone who threatens and intimidates young employees. When I tried to correct her version of events, she continued twisting the story to make me look even worse. I then spoke with several people in the community, all of whom said essentially the same thing: āYouāre in a no-win situation with her. Her goal is to make you look bad and the business the victim.ā A few hours later, a friend called to say that the owner had taken a screenshot of my review and posted it on the business's Facebook page. Why would anyone do that? It was her way of mobilizing her 8,500 followers to attack me. And it worked. Now Iām being targeted with threats and awful personal comments. A few people even tried to offer a different perspective on the post and were immediately blocked. Clearly, this wasnāt about open dialogue - it was a public take-down. At that point, I just wanted it all to go away. So yes, I caved and deleted the review. But now, I'm being harassed at home because of this business ownerās actions. Is that really someone you want to support? Iām fully aware that sheāll likely twist this version too, make herself the victim again, and portray me as the villain. But I can sleep at night knowing Iām a decent person. Some people are just bitter and cruel - thereās no...
