Let me start by stating that the manager, Gustavo; extremely rude, incompetent to say the least. The cashiers are in most cases overwhelmed by the customers as the day progresses and the store becomes busier. There are 6 registers and only 3, (sometimes 2) are manned by cashiers at any given time throughout the stores' business hours. Customers who would like their favorite products to be stocked as requested can expect to wait an eternity while Gustavo fails on his promise to order said items. Upon having a conversation with Gustavo I noticed that he speaks with a very condescending tone, I'm not sure why he believes he can speak this way to individuals and customers but I'd say that it is his obligation as store manager to maintain the utmost respect for each and every guest that walks through those sometimes broken sliding doors. I will also mention that the deli workers, one white woman in particular, seems very rude upon approaching the counter to place an order. A young man behind the counter can also be seen eating the food that is prepared for the customers and continuing to serve customers after his gloved hands have made contact with his own mouth. Aside from the above, a cashier by the name of Jim is also not equipped with the capability of fully respecting the customers, he can be seen on his phone constantly texting and scrolling away, upon approaching Jim you might expect to be standing there waiting for a minute or two as he completes his task at hand on his cell phone. My overall summary of this independently owned IGA is great disappointment and dissatisfaction. I urge any new comers to quickly start towards a better and friendlier...
Read moreSince the purchase by the new owners (CN based?) these guys get 4 stars for making steady improvements. (A score which could go up depending on whether or not management seems to be listening to customer suggestions. Let's consider this review as a field experiment on that point ; )
So improvements... Nice reorganization recently of the whole right side of the store, notably some smaller sections, like veggies and organic berries... better displayed, better quality. They have some great new in-house products. For instance, the IGA guacamole now beats Citerella or Damark. They are good on basics, and improving specialty items. Fantastic prices on some things like Kitchen Basics soups.
Would love to see them carry a really good raw sauerkraut. The best is Real Pickles Garlic Sauerkraut, hands down.
Also, goat milk kefir. Redwood farms is the leading brand I've noticed, locally
Let's leave it there and see what happens. Find out if management is...
Read moreThis is a grocery store, not a supermarket, but they've actually done a nice job given the space constraints. They have a nice variety of items, definitely tailored to a Hampton's crowd. I feel like they are trying to provide specialty items while still functioning as a grocery store and you'll definitely find items you wouldn't see even in supermarkets. Still, you won't necessarily be able to find everything on your list--you certainly won't find the discount version of everything on your list anyway. Prices are high but not abnormally for the areas/items--I've easily spent as much in King Kullen. The produce is generally fresh and they have a good selection. If you're out for the summer, you'll find items tailored to your needs. If you're a local, this is a good spot to pick something up and bigger than the Montauk IGA, but I still run to King Kullen if I have a...
