Our room was never cleaned and the bed was not even made during our stay. When I asked the owner/manager couple about this they claimed they have not been entering guest rooms (during guests stays) since the pandemic broke for safety reasons. Clearly, much of the industry has moved away from this approach as it robs guests of a true hotel experience. Further, the safety motive strikes me as disingenuous because (1) both husband and wife owners were completely unmasked the entire time, checking people in and out, serving breakfast for guests, etc.. And that’s while they were face-to-face with us, directly breathing in the air we were exhaling - as opposed to neatening up when guests were out and about. (2) rooms were turned over between guest stays. If the owners are constantly subjecting themselves to this type of “exposure” it’s difficult to believe they are so concerned over the risk of performing the exact same work during actual guest stays (3) owners could easily contract with one of many professional cleaning services who would be happy to handle the housekeeping as they currently do for so many other hotels and local businesses.
For the reasons described above, it seems clear to me that "health and safety" is being used as pretext to save money by not cleaning guest rooms during guest stays.
Also, the bedposts in the room in which we stayed were so high that one nearly reaches the ceiling and it badly blocked the view of the television from my wife’s side of the bed. When I told the owners, they smiled and said “we know” with a blank stare. Not “we know and we’re doing something about it” just … “we know” with the...
Read moreThey don't turn over the room or even make the bed. They claim an Information Card provided in each room it states that no member of the staff will enter rooms after check-in. How about stating that when we made the reservation so we could make an informed decision. And they try to also defend this by saying the "Information Card" provides very simple instructions on obtaining clean linens if required. Reading instructions to get clean towels and to. get linens that I have to tuck on the mattress myself is not what I thought I was signing up for. And I don't believe for one second the the couple who owns and manages this place was concerned to enter rooms over Covid so much as they are trying to save themselves money and work. They were without masks at all times in the common areas and they turn over rooms in between stays. So it is hard to buy this Covid policy against basic housekeeping is driven by safety concerns. By the way, if they're so concerned over their own safety, they could contract with a local cleaning service that would be happy to take the business.
Our room also had this ridiculous bedpost that nearly reached the ceiling and obstructed the view of the TV. When my husband mentioned it, they smiled and said "we know"... as in, "we know, too bad, we're not doing anything about it".

Read moreThis place is a true gem! We absolutely loved our stay. The incredibly generous hosts Cam & Victor have thought of everything - we had a really wonderful stay thanks to them. The 2 course home made breakfast is so delicious and filling. Cam and Victor provided great recommendations and advice on places to visit, restaurants and attractions and cycle routes - all absolutely spot on which made our trip so great. Having access to a small fridge in the main dining room was so helpful for storing some small snacks. The Garden room was spacious, cosy and comfortable, the bathroom especially so. Every little ask was responded to with a smile and sorted immediately. And don’t get me started on the loveliest place that is Amagansett!!!! The B&B is walking distance from the lovely Amber Waves farm, lots of independent shops and restaurants and cafes and really close to the beach. We hired bikes and that took us around the area in the most lovely fun way! Would absolutely love to come back one day. One of my all time favourite B&B stays! Thank you Cam & Victor for your kindness and...
