Extra Space Storage — Local services in Town of East Hampton

After explaining my needs and being assured by both someone from corporate and Ty, the facility manager, that what I needed to do was completely allowable (take the items from my house as we were downsizing, post them online for sale, and coordinate pickup), I signed up for a large 10x25 space without hesitation. On first glance, it seemed like it would be a great fit. In the end, it was an absolute nightmare. Ty created his own rules, was difficult to deal with, suggested that we were loitering, made up imaginary fire lanes, and effectively made the space we paid a lot of money for unusable. Interestingly, the feedback I heard from professional movers that were frequently moving people in and out of other units in the facility was similar - he selectively enforced rules and was generally a jerk. To top it all off, Ty let me know that 'corporate' had instructed him not to renew us as tenants at the end of the month. Reaching out to 'corporate' entailed two calls to regional manager Robert Cicotto that never yielded any actual time on the phone (he didn't call me back) or resolution. We moved out and have never looked back. There aren't a ton of options in East Hampton for storage, but any/all of them are better than this facility and it's management. 10 out of 10 would...

It is an incredible place. Ty who manages it is so friendly and personable and helpful. He remembers me any time I call or come by. And he is so sincerely supportive. He is on it and organized and I have never experienced such a personable, competent, onsite management at any storage unit I have had be it in England or Florida or here in the Hampton’s.
