Montauk Point — Local services in Town of East Hampton

Really great place! There's something about reaching the end of something. It's a bit of a long drive from the city, but it's definitely worth it. You'll pass through several towns along the way, and you really won't mind the long drive. Once you get to Montauk, you'll realize why a lot of people come to visit. The town offers a lot, from the food and souvenir shops. Montauk Point itself has its own souvenir shop. Keep in mind, if you're planning to visit on a holiday weekend, you might have to wait over an hour to go to the top of the lighthouse as there are a lot of people. The picture is the view from the top of the light house. It’s a pretty mighty but easy climb but not suited for those who have breathing issues. We were staying in Long Island and took us a couple of hours by car. You can reach the water by climbing down but in certain parts the water reeks as there’s a lot of water plant growing (wildling). The view is great and going up to the lighthouse is optional though I would recommend it if you have time in hand. The wait can be long so go early or on a weekday. There’s a lot of information at the museum which you can visit after your climb to the top, which is at the ground level. Yes it’s a paid activity but There’s a gift or souvenir shop outside too.
