I typically hate furniture shopping. Push sales people (who also don't seem to understand the construction or details of the product), questionable quality and just an overall feeling of "ickyness". I've been to very few furniture stores that seem to value and respect their customers.
This is the opposite of Marty's. Marty's is completely no pressure, they say hi when you walk in and then wait for you to ask them questions; after that they actually know the answer when you do have a question. All of the stuff seems like really good quality too, solid wood, made in USA, etc. Lots of really nice pieces.
We recently bought a dining room set from them. Had been eyeing it for months, but suddenly was on MAJOR discount due to a very small cosmetic blemish, so we decided to jump on it. This meant both a great savings for us, but it also shows that they are only going to sell top notch stuff- damaged goods are clearly indicated as such and discounted. We probably wouldn't had noticed the blemish in our table if they hadn't pointed it out. Just a great indicator of an honest and upright business, plus the stuff they sell is really, really nice and not [i}that[/i] expensive.
Delivery was also inexpensive and right on the scheduled time/day. Just a really pleasurable place to do business with, I never thought I would say that about a...
Read moreWe found Marty's Barn Cellar last year while searching for wooden toy boxes. All the big name furniture stores had nothing or selling plastic crappy ones when we turned to the internet and found Marty's. Now if your looking for nice wooden furnishing that you can get within a few days to a week this isn't the place for you although they do sell unfinished smaller floor model pieces like toy boxes. James was very friendly and helpful, answering all of our questions and even showing me how to properly prep and stain the item. We were so impressed that we went back a few months later to purchase a new dining room table made completely to the way we wanted it with an Adirondack look and feel to it. A bit on the expansive side but as the old saying goes 'you get what you pay for' and you're definitely getting high quality furnishing manufactured in the USA here. Already went back for another piece and planning more...
Read moreLove, love, love Marty's Barn Cellar. Two years ago we purchased a huge dining room table. All American made. Black trestle table with a red maple/cherry finish. Just gorgeous. Also purchased six ladder back chairs done in black and the seats match the table top. Quality, solid wood. Something you won't find in most furniture stores. The best thing was the price. So much more reasonable then we ever expected. We also purchased two unfinished end tables. One of the salesmen does refinishing on the side and he stained the tables just in the shade we asked for to go in our living room. My next purchase within the next week or so, will be an island for my kitchen along with a couple of stools. You just can't match the quality that you find here. I recommend them to everyone I know. You...
