Lucifer Falls is one of the most awe-inspiring waterfalls in New York State. Nestled within Robert H. Treman State Park, the entire hike to the falls feels like stepping into a hidden world — surrounded by towering cliffs, lush greenery, and the soothing sounds of cascading water. The Gorge Trail is beautifully maintained with natural stone steps and dramatic views at every turn, making the journey just as memorable as the destination.
When you finally reach Lucifer Falls, it's absolutely breathtaking — a 115-foot drop framed by steep gorge walls and layered rock formations that look like something out of a movie. There are multiple vantage points along the trail to take in its full beauty, including a scenic overlook where you can see the falls and the rugged canyon below.
Whether you’re an avid hiker or just someone looking for a peaceful spot to connect with nature, this place is magical. Great for photography, a picnic break, or just standing there in awe. Highly recommend adding this to any Finger Lakes adventure — a true gem of...
Read moreThis waterfall and trail are gorgeous, and a must-see. The gorge trail here is every bit as beautiful as Watkins Glen. If you don't want to hike the entire trail, I would recommend starting at the upper park entrance. You can either take the gorge trail and loop back around on the rim trail, or vice versa. If you start on the gorge trail, you will have to go up lots of steps on the second half. If you start on the rim trail, you'll have to hike up the gorge for the second half. The latter is probably a little easier, but I prefer the former for seeing the view of the waterfall in order and knocking out all of the uphill on the stairs at one time. The gorge trail has a side view of Lucifer falls up close and the rim trail has an overlook where you can see the full falls from across and above. Both are worth seeing. This was one of my favorite waterfalls and hikes in the...
Read moreA perfect view of the entire falls can be spied upon from this overlook. With outward facing views of the bottom of the falls stream and opposite elevated trail, spending time here was relaxing and invigorating at the same time. This vantage point can be accessed from the trail head above which crosses the Finger Lakes Trail (white) or from the typical upper park entrance to the falls where you go up the right hill side trail. Well worth the short hike down or up for these...
