My husband and I were fortunate to attend the Ronnie Burrage Trio’s Friday night performance, and our NYC trip wouldn’t have been complete without it! They played a diverse set of jazz standards and modern, original compositions. All 3 musicians oozed showmanship, technical skill, and incredible improvisational stylings, making their performance exhilarating and unexpected. Although I came from out-of-state, I look forward to following Harlem Jazz Boxx via their live streams and hopefully returning in person someday! Read moreA true magical moment. As a younger fan, listening to these greats was like watching a classical jazzy movie. My husband and I both felt as if we was back in time. When Jazz was real and the artist gave you their heart, pain and their soul. It was a honor to be in Harlem and feel as if we just hanging with some cool cats for the evening. It was a night we both will never forget. And the meet and greet after the performance made our evening even more special. The playlist was a bit surprising at first (it sounded more like extracts of movie scores than jazz) but after half an hour it became more like jazz. So it's a pity the concert only lasted one hour, from what we had read we were expecting 1h 1/2 of famous jazz classics. Also, the acoustics of that church are not really suited for such an ensemble, it's a pity. And the leader could use a microphone when addressing the audience, so that he can be heard from everyone.
