Even after 16 years in this country I cannot get used to the fact that big places like this get rented out for other churches events. I came for a couple of hours of peace and meditation and I met the terribly loud speakers of an Indian 3-church meeting taking place. I know, I have to check the website first and see if there's going to be any event (if the website is updated). I can never get used to it... On other thought: in Argentina, renting out a Catholic place would be considered making commerce out of a religious place, even if it doesn't take place inside the church building itself. Read moreVisited here in April of 2013 with my child's Montessori school. This was the only Shrine, (we visted 3 that day) that insisted that we "mail up a deposit"??? Mind you, our total group was NO more than 12, and we spent money in the gift shop. When we got there, the priest was holding a pizza under his arms and was more interested in gobbling it down then sitting with the students and telling us a bit about the Shrine, the history of St John, etc. Terrible unappreciative shrine coordinator, very business like...priest knew we were coming and chose his pizza over children whom he could've planted a seed of hope and faith in.
