TLDR: The owner Kristy has poor communication skills and caused a nightmare situation for my friends and me. We would caution anyone to reconsider before working with her.
Leaving this review as a warning for others so that you don’t get into the situation I was in with the host. We booked a reservation with Kristy through VRBO and several days before our trip one of our friends who was set to go on the trip needed to drop out due to a death in her family. At this point we messaged Kristy and then left several voicemails explaining our situation and we didn’t hear from her for over 24 hours. We continued to reach out via phone and our phone calls were never returned. At this point we left and additional message not to cancel our booking. When she finally did answer over message she made false claims that we cancelled our trip and was prepared to keep our full payment for the trip without communicating with us. VRBO confirmed our reservation and said that from their records we still had our booking and they encouraged us to go on the trip because we would not be able to receive a refund unless Kristy formally cancelled in the app. So we messaged Kristy saying that we would still be coming as she had our money and we still had our booking through VRBO. When we arrived at the location, there was no one there and there were no check-in instructions left. At this point we called VRBO and they reached out to Kristy and she not only refused to speak with us but she said she was unwilling to host us. After several hours on the phone with VRBO, we were able to get a refund and a hotel for the night as we were stranded. After this fiasco with Kristy, we were tired, stressed, and forced to change all of our plans for the weekend. Read moreI was in the bridal party at a wedding here and was less than impressed. The owner was very attentive to our bride and groom needs before the wedding, then essentially backed out on her word when day came. The day before, I watched her promise our bride that her staff would light candles, and set up a couple last minute decorations. Then when the other bridesmaids and I followed up she would say that's not my responsibility or decorations are not in my contract. I watched her promise the bride she would have chairs and a folding table brought over to her room for hair and make up the morning of the wedding then never followed through. It took me five reminders to get her to set up the table and linens for the cake. She didn't end up doing it until guests were arriving and the bakery was there. She's a lot of talk and not a lot of action, with a very fake personality. Her only saving grace is that the guest rooms are very very clean, and have nice touches like fridges, card games, water, and snacks. All in all though she needs to work on her customer relations. Unfortunately the manager/owner has very little experience working with reasonable people or just plain doesn’t care about her patrons event. Part of owning small businesses is that you uphold a high level of professionalism and care about your clients overall experience. I have attended weddings where the owner has lied about events happening close in succession to a private event and has requested that client have to clean up themselves! Folks pay a very pretty penny to use this space! Similarly, the owner has displayed some very questionable PR on the their social media stating it would be moral hurting peaceful protestors!
