Although RIT has a great programs within the College of Business, the advisement department brings it down on so many levels. I'm sure not all advisors are bad but the experience with mine has left a sour taste in my mouth. He/she was not helpful and tried to brush me off. When I did have questions, the advisor jumped to conclusions and made simple questions 10000x more difficult than ever needed to be. While I may say that I was not put in the easiest of situations and I was not the ideal student to work with, he/she did not make it any easier or pleasant. Instead they acted as if it was a personal attack on them and quickly escalated simple questions.
Not only that, but on several occasions (not just from my own experience) advisors lacked to give proper advisement and overlooked information that would cause students to spend extra time at RIT and waste thousands upon thousands of dollars. Yes, there are a lot of students at RIT, but advisors have a job to do and from experience it is not being done satisfactorily.
