My son was wrongfully pulled over by a corrupt cop for supposedly blowing a stop sign. The officer threatened and demeaned him during the stop. We requested and obtained the body cam footage as evidence for our upcoming appearance in traffic court.
When we were called up to the desk, we spoke to the woman about the potential fees and points, she informed us it would be a large fine and three points on his license, though it could be reduced to half the fine with no points. I mentioned that we preferred to go to trial since we had the footage, and she rolled her eyes at me. It was clear that my questions irritated her, and she seemed eager to move us along. However, she eventually became more pleasant, perhaps realizing we weren’t beneath her.
Our experience in the courtroom with Judge Mathers was disheartening. When my son was called up to the podium, I followed him. Instead of respectfully asking me to step back, the judge reprimanded me harshly, speaking to me as if I was insignificant. I tried to explain that it was my vehicle and that I had in my possession the body cam footage, but he became irate and continued to berate me for speaking after he had told me not to. He repeatedly tried to provoke me, asking if he had made himself clear, to which I responded that I had heard him the first time and sat down as instructed.
Judge Mathers then asked my son some questions, but because my son has a medically diagnosed severe anxiety disorder, he struggled to respond. I quietly whispered to my son the questions that needed to be asked, only to be reprimanded again. I explained my son’s condition, stating that I was trying to protect him not only from corrupt cops but also from feeling overwhelmed by the judge’s aggressive and uncompassionate approach.
This judge is supposed to represent the people, offering them a fair trial and considering the possibility that the officers he represents might be wrong or even harmful. Instead, the moment I spoke, his ego inflated, and for some reason, he was triggered and had already decided my son was guilty without knowing the truth. When the judge told my son that the officer claimed my son had apologized during that traffic stop, it was implied that my son was admitting to the charge. My son tried to explain to the judge that he said he was sorry because the officer was threatening to arrest him, but the judge refused to see that for what is was.
Eventually, the judge backed off and stated that he would remove himself from our trial. This entire experience highlights how poorly people are treated in the system and explains why there is such a lack of respect for these institutions among the public. I am sure once this review is read my son will be found guilty during the trial, even with evidence because this is how this place and these...
Read moreWe recently attended the American Punjabi Society's Baisakhi Celebrations at the H Lee Dennison Building in Hauppague, and it was a delightful experience. One of the highlights was seeing Mahatma Gandhi's statue, which was quite impressive and added a special touch to the event (attached photo for reference). Despite the heavy rains, the turnout was fantastic, showing the community's enthusiasm for such cultural gatherings.
The Baisakhi celebrations were organized beautifully, with a vibrant display of traditions and festivities. We thoroughly enjoyed the delicious food and the entertaining performances that showcased the rich cultural heritage. It's heartwarming to see venues like the H Lee Dennison Building accommodating Indian events and providing a platform for cultural celebrations.
Moreover, it was a pleasure to meet Harry Singh Bolla, the CEO & President of Bhola Oil Corp, at the event. His presence added to the significance of the celebrations, and we appreciate the efforts of individuals like him in supporting and promoting our cultural heritage.
Overall, it was a memorable event, and we look forward to attending more such wonderful celebrations...
Read moreBring a lot of cash with you!! If you got a moving violation get ready to pay no matter what. It is very clear that these people just want your money. They do not even want to hear anything you have to say or any proof of not guilty. If you have proof you are better off to get a lawyer before you go there. The process was quick because again, they just want your money. You will talk to a prosecutor who doesn't want to hear your side and all he'll do is look up your driving record if it's good he'll drop your violation to a parking ticket but you are still paying the fine. Examples I over heard even after getting reduced to a parking ticket, going through a stop sign= $380. Following too closely= $480. Disobeying traffic device = $270. And they do not accept personal checks they will charge you a convenience fee of 3.5% to use your debit/credit card and the atm will conveniently be out of order. That's why I say bring a lot of cash! Total...
