I have lived around the corner from this amazing piece of history for 22 years and I finally had the chance to visit during a day it was open to the public. It was an absolutely amazing experience, not only because of the antiques, replicas and condition of the house, but because of the passion and knowledge of the volunteers. We spent over 2 hours here but we could have stayed all day - there was so much to see and learn about. Every is hands on; you can lay on the beds, sit in all the furniture, and play with the old toys. Read moreI’m all for preserving history but not at the expense of clean family fun. Hull House wants to shut and destroy clean family fun. They say the race track, which has been there for decades, is bothersome. Mind you Hull House is only open 3 weekends a year. Also take into consideration that Hull house is next to I-90. There constant noise coming from the interstate. Again, while I’ll love seeing history preserved maybe it should have some changes. Maybe change the Hull House leadership. I especially enjoyed the presentation of Carmen Swans as Susan Baker King Taylor, Deanna Van Pryz was right in character as Mary Chestnut and Dianna Cummings was powerful as Harriet Tubman.
