Second year in a row, half, maybe 2/3rd of the booths are unmanned, nothing even interesting to buy, just cheap novelties, patriotic junk all made in China, overall boring.
Wanted to let the kids go on rides but the line to buy tickets was insane, I guess it was a night for wristbands? I get that, but I was not waiting in the line to get tickets. All we wanted to do was go on one or two rides.
Went to go to the butterfly tent since the rides we're unavailable....also closed
Animals were fun to look at, but the people who were Manning the animal stands we're kind if rude. Perhaps they we're just tired, we went around dinner time. I give them the benefit of the doubt.
Food was good. Tried to stick to local stands. Jebs is awesome. Maple cotton candy is a Lewis county Fair staple. So worth it. Brick oven pizza was there, we had that last year and it was great.
The events might be fun to watch, but too expensive with the entire family.
Overall, wish I saved my money and just had a nice dinner at a restaurant, or went to a movie.
Outside the parade (which is amazing) and the fireworks(phenomenal), the fair isn't worth the...
Read moreRecently visited to attend the fair, as we used to be residents of Lowville, formerly. Great hometown atmosphere. Parade, fireworks, entertainment, demolition derby, 4H exhibits, livestock, etc. are terrific. No entry fee is great. However, the prices for food/drink from the carnie carts and rides are super expensive for a small town fair $7 for a piece of fried dough, $7-$9 for a lemonade. $35 for unlimited rides? $25 for 20 ride tickets. There's only a handful of rides. You can go to enchanted forest water safari for the day (an hours drive from Lowville) for close to the same price if you can score discount tickets or pay just a little bit more. Otherwise, a nice way to spend a day's visit, or to gather as a community...
Read moreAnother great year at the fair. The derby was a bit of a let down though. They say they have rules about purposely hitting the drivers side door but I watched a car do it tonight 4 times only to see a group say something to a ref and get a oh we know as a response. Nice to know they will bend the rules for some and disregard safety. It just leaves a bad taste when this is a great fair that has some of the most upstanding patrons and vendors I have ever come across in my years as a competitor and now patron. Its the fair I look forward to the most so its heartbreaking to know this wonderful event is being smeared by what could become reckless behavior and...
