After ordering my sub and having trouble at the gas pump, I told the young male cashier, " you might want to put an out of order sign on pump number one. The tap reader isn't working, the card reader isn't working, and no one responded when I pressed the button to pay inside with cash or the one to ask for help." He started to say something about how they don't have any control over the pumps, to which I replied, it just needs an out of order sign. The young man looked me right in the eye and said with all his teenage snark, "or you could just come inside and pay like everyone else."
All I expected was for someone to offer a halfway sincere apology, thank me for the info, and promise they would put a sign up. Customer service is a simple thing. Show a little empathy and don't be a jerk. Instead, I got intentional disrespect.
A few minutes down the road, I unwrapped my sub and realized that instead of the extra tomatoes I had asked for, there were none.
I've stopped at Hogan's Hut a lot over the years, and the experiences have been generally positive. I'm a local business owner myself. Sometimes the little things make all the difference, for better or for worse. When someone forgets the tomatoes, I'm disappointed but I can shrug it off. When someone looks me in the eye and talks to me with all the disrespect he can muster, I remember that. It's going to be a long time before...
Read moreMy head’s about to explode reading some of the negative reviews....it’s a general store located at the foot of a bridge, next to the amazing Lake Chautauqua where you can get beer...gas...ice cream...coffee...fishing supplies....a toothbrush...and an amazing bacon egg and cheese. Where else can you get amazing worms and amazing people food. Nowhere. My wife has been vacationing here since she was a child and we have been taking our kids here for the last three years....this place is amazing. When we leave our home, Ambler, PA, we punch in Hogan’s Hut as the destination point, not Chautauqua Lake. Nobody beats...
Read moreI don't write many reviews, but I'm fairly disappointed in with my EXPENSIVE and INADEQUATE lunch. We just went in today 3/8, and the young woman at the front counter was very rude and impersonal (smile honey). Then, I couldn't decide which sandwich to get, and the sandwich guy (very nice) recommended the pizza sub. It was made fresh, so that is a good, but the bread was burnt, and the "pizza" is a thin layer of cheese with about 10 pieces of pepperoni. Do NOT recommend this place. If you're going east bound, wait another mile and there are more restaurants...
