OGC — Local services in Town of Ontario

I have always been a big fan of the course layout and character. I played there yesterday afternoon and was extremely disappointed in the shape of the course. It was as if the grass had not been cut in several days. The speed of the greens were what I would expect of course in late April or early May. The fairways were very long and the rough was nearly unplayable.

The course was very dry so I see no excuse for the conditions in late August. Weather cannot be the excuse as all other courses I have played do not display this issue.

As we are putting on the 18th Green there is a young man cleaning our clubs. Maybe he should be cutting the grass.

I will not return this season nor would I recommend to others. They use Groupon to attract me there and delivered a below average product. I don't understand.

Pub 235 on the Green: tonight there was a large event in the banquet room and a waitlist for regular seating. However, we had drinks at the bar with an attentive, friendly bartender, and were seated at a nice-sized table for four near the fireplace. The quality of our food was not impacted by the concurrent banquet! Delish! For an app we had the Pesto Burrata Brushetta—HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Absolutely fresh, light, and a perfect meld of flavors. For dinner I had the chicken French over spaghettini- good portion, well presented, taste was just right. The rest of my table had the strip steak, chicken Milanese and the Chef’s Dip. Reported good portion, great flavor and highly satisfied. For dessert we had carrot cake and the Irish Cream Cheesecake- moist and not too sweet; again, presented well. UPDATE: On 8/19/25 the owner posted that they have resolved the irrigation problem, so hopefully that won't be a problem in the years to come.

ORIGINAL: I like this course, but they need to figure out the irrigation. The greens and areas around the greens were fine, but the fairways were mostly brown and hard as a rock. I know there hasn’t been much rain, but I drove past Eagle Vale on the way home and it was completely green. I was also kind of surprised to see that the dilapidated bridges I first noticed 3 years ago are still.. dilapidated. Finally, the person who checked us in wasn’t particularly welcoming/friendly. On the positive side, the buildings are nice, as are the greens, and the beverage cart came around frequently. OGC just needs to step it up a bit for the experience to match...
