Save A Lot — Local services in Town of Ontario

Handling the NYS mandates during the Covid Pandemic is poor. Customers are not discouraged when they show up without masks. I realize it is not a law but people are dying from this illness and the owner is ignoring the mandate that people are supposed to be wearing a mask when going to public places. Not only that but when I called the manager I left a message and she never called back. I realize that I live in an area not Densely populated but I do live with 2 people who are considered as vulnerable and it's not fair to me that I can't shop there because your store doesn't respect the NY State mandates put in place to keep us all safe. Another important part is this is the fact that I was told all employees are instructed to wear masks and the person handling the meat had his mask dangling around his neck so yes he was not wearing the mask on his face. This kind of disregard for human life during a pandemic makes me sad that we don't respect one another enough to contribute in our community by protecting each other against this illness. Masks are supposed to be worn in public places especially in grocery stores. I never thought a place like this would approach times like these with such disregard...

If you're on a tight budget like me, are willing to buy generic or unknown brands (most of which here are just fine, in my opinion), and are NOT looking for frills and "fru-fru" shopping (I LOVE Wegmans, BELIEVE me, but my current financial situation simply does not allow me to afford to shop for much there), THIS IS THE PLACE TO GO!!! I've been to several of this chain's locations in the area, and this one is by far the nicest and the largest with the best selection of products (many of the items are also slightly cheaper than other locations, though I'm not entirely sure why). You WILL save BOATLOADS of money shopping here, and things like their meat department offer truly exceptional values, particularly for larger families. No bags at checkout, though a selection of empty boxes can be found to varying degrees depending on the day and time to use to carry out your goods. I'm sure this is but one of the ways they manage to keep their prices so low, so for me it's a great trade off. Highly recommended, we shop here every week and our money goes so much further...

As a vegan, I review things accordingly. Their vegan options are very limited. Their boca burgers are okay but some have cheese, so be careful of that. No vegan ice cream, very limited selection of snacks that happen to be vegan.

Employees are very nice though, thats what bumps this up to a 3.

Edit: This is NOT a review of this specific save alot, as this is a review of all save alots in general.

Heres some advice.

Make some vegan frozen meals, finger frozen foods, ice cream, deserts, stuff like that. Mark them high enough to make a profit, but low enough to attract new vegans, curious people, etc. You guys will get so much positive publicity from the vegan community and from your local communities for offering healthier and cheap alternatives to...
