Incident Report – Blue Hill Golf Course Date of Incident: April 20, 2025 Time: Approximately 4:30 PM (Our tee time was 3:26pm) Location: Hole 7
On April 20, 2025, at approximately 4:30PM, I was accompanying my two children—my 12-year-old son and 10-year-old daughter—along with another young girl (approximately 11 years old, not related to our family), while they played golf at Blue Hill Golf Course. I was not playing myself but was supervising the children on the course.
While the children were on the green at Hole 7, a group behind us, consisting of three individuals—an older Caucasian man with all-white hair, a younger Caucasian man (approximately mid-20s, 6 feet tall, with freckles), and an older Caucasian woman (presumably the mother)—began yelling at us to hurry up. Despite having a clear and unobstructed view of the children on the green, the younger man proceeded to hit an iron shot in our direction. The ball landed approximately 10 to 15 feet to the right of the green—uncomfortably close to the children. No verbal warning (i.e., yelling “Fore”) was given before the shot.
This act appeared to be an intentional and reckless decision designed to intimidate or pressure us to speed up. When I confronted the group, the younger man admitted to hitting the shot and justified it by stating that the ball didn’t hit anyone. This line of reasoning is entirely unacceptable. A golf ball struck at full speed toward children is incredibly dangerous and could have caused serious injury or worse—particularly if struck in the head. The fact that no one was harmed is purely due to chance, not caution.
This individual’s behavior was deliberate, dangerous, and entirely inexcusable. He had a clear view of children on the green and chose to hit anyway. I am in the process of filing a police report regarding this incident, and I request that Blue Hill Golf Course management formally investigate the matter and ban these individuals from the course immediately for the...
Read moreNo driving range. No drinking water available on course. Water fountains have been removed and not replaced. You will not see a beverage cart girl until around 9am. So if you are playing early bring water, as once again, there is no drinking water on the course.
The course itself is beat up. Fairway has unfixed divots. Only primary cut. An inch off the fairway you will find an assortment of conditions. No grass, crab grass, thick grass and dirt. Around the greens also in bad shape. The movement of the town to remove town employees from the course maintenance has resulted in “dogtrack” like conditions. Troon Golf has recently taken over for Applied Golf. The course is open pretty much all year, this translates into awful course conditions as divots and ball marks created in January, Will not grow back. Greens have many unfixed ball marks. Recent tree work is very noticeable and opens up the course in a great way. Bunkers are new on pines and wood course. These bunkers are now having issues, with a thin layer of sand and then hard cement like gravel. Lakeside bunkers are currently having a full renovation.
Pace of play is 4.5-5 hour round on weekends. The issue is the three different nines which makes the round inconsistent. Your front nine could be 2 hours pace of play, but your back nine is 2.5 hour pace which is frustrating. You never know what your back nine will be like pace of play wise. You could be going from the 9th to 10th hole and have to all of a sudden wait 15 minutes because new groups are teeing off.
The course brings in almost 1 million dollars per year in revenue for the town. The course does not see it, the golfers...
Read moreThe staff are friendly, the clubhouse is very nice, cold drinks and a nice menu. As far as the golf course. The price for a round of golf is way to much for a course in this condition. The fairways are okay but way to many unfilled divits. The greens are mostly in good condition, they are quick and roll true. However the rough along the fairways and around the green is in bad shape. Weeds and gnarly grass throughout. I played here years ago and it was one of the best courses around. How sad to see the condition now and how it has regressed. I'll spend less money and play other courses in better...
