I was unable to access the front parking lot of the rest stop due to construction and trucks that were blocking every way to get into the front parking lot, luckily there was a back entrance, but I had to park a small car with the trucks. It was not clear on where to go with the entire front being blocked off in one way or another. This will be a lot nicer when you can drive around normally to park and construction is finished. Just stop for the bathroom, and don't buy anything here because its wildly overpriced. Stop in a nearby town and get off the highway if you need to eat something, it will save you a ton of money especially if you are feeding multiple people. With GPS in everyone's hand now this will be easy and there are some nearby towns around this stop or you can plan ahead for this so you don't get stuck eating at an overpriced rest stop. If you want to stop in a bigger town Batavia is not far from here. The rest stop was very clean and I thought there were enough restrooms but the parking lot is small and will likely fill up quickly during the busy season. There was nothing wrong with the previous rest stops that were here so this redesign seems very not necessary.
If you are travelling and its very busy it may take you less time to stop at a place off the highway as most highway exits in NY have some type of retail space off the exits where you can grab a bite to eat and use the restroom, just...
Read moreIt seems to have opened just today after a long period of renovations! Just our luck, as we drove in at about 10:15, right as all of the stores were opening. It is simply put the BEST rest stop I have ever been to!
It should not be understated that it opened just today; there were a ton of staff milling around the location, all doing various jobs, but all were generally ensuring that the opening was going smoothly. I’m sure that it won’t always be like this.
The restrooms were beyond spacious and modern, with an grand flow style sink. It was the kind of sink where everyone’s sinks are interconnected, and there are a couple individual sections of separated soap/water/air dryers. The men’s bathroom had two sides to it, to allow for probably more than fifty people to use it at the same time. I can’t speak to the women’s restroom, but I imagine it’d be about the same quality, although it may accommodate for less people given that stalls take up more space than urinals.
There was a variety of options within the rest stop, including Dunkin’ Donuts and Popeyes among others. Personally, I went to the Popeyes, and had the single best chicken sandwich of my life.
If I had one complaint about this rest stop, it’d be that I did not spot any massage chairs, which I think is a staple of rest stops.
Overall a great location, I highly...
Read moreThe overflowing trash cans out front should have provided sufficient warning to keep driving, but hunger and the urge to use the toilet overuled our better judgment. The only thing clean about the establishment was the bathroom.
We ate at Burger King, and although the food tasted good, the meal was ridiculously overpriced. 2 whoppers and impossible burger, chicken fries, and a medium fry were $40 with tax. The floors were really dirty and the girl taking the order was talking to the guy making the burgers about non work related topics which would be fine, but everything she asked him a question, he stopped what he was doing to answer the question completely losing any ability to multitask. Talking and adding lettuce to a sandwich is apparently too taxing.
On top of all this, there were rat traps by the bathrooms. 🤢
Now, if you read my other reviews, you will find I am a fairly generous reviewer. I give a lot of leeway and try to be balanced in my commentary, but when a state spends all kinds of money updating a service center and it is not well taken care of, and you are spending goodness knows how much on tolls and food, you think they would have the decency to provide a nice experience. It is enough to make you want to pack a cooler of food. Next time, we will hold our wee until...
