Kiwanis Ice Arena — Local services in Town of Saugerties

We went to Kiwanis Ice Arena for the first time today for a Try Hockey For Free event. It was an awesome experience from start to finish. We pre-registered, so check-in was smooth. A coach helped gear up my son from head to toe then ensured that everything was well fit or taped so it wasn't loose. All of the staff and even the parents were helpful and supportive. This was my son's first experience with both ice skating and hockey. He was able to skate without assistance after a few minutes of using a plastic skate helper. Each time he fell he was able to get back up and received guidance along the way from coaches and seasoned players. Having had such a good experience today, he cannot wait to go back! Looking forward to signing up for Jr. Rangers Learn To Play...

So much fun!! I brought my 4-year old for her first ice skating experience and my first in like thirty years. You can't beat the price. Kids 5 and under are free, I was six dollars. Skate rentals were three bucks. Additionally, the skates were really well taken care of and I wasn't scared to put them on considering the number of people prior to me that have worn them. The best part were the "trainers." The trainers are like big sturdy plastic walkers that kids (and grown-ups) can use on the ice to keep them balanced and add to the fun. I think I'll be signing my daughter up for lessons. She had such a great time...

We would go again. Prices are very reasonable. My two complaint ate that the website does not give any indication if the rink is off limits for private events. My second complaint is that it can get very crowded very fast and it does take away from the experience. Especially when people keep asking if they can my skating assisting device when I paid to have it and they want it for free. Also not sure if they have a limit of how many people they let on the ice. I guess that was more than two. I don't hate the place but it also wasn't a great...
