My mom(almost 74 at the time) was there in july 2023 for maybe a week and a half until the very beginning of august . She went in because she fell from not being able to walk very well. They were suppose to help her with that. We saw her right before going in there and other than her inability to walk she looked fine. She was coherent and herself. I called her on July 29th(day before her 74th birthday) and she was completely out of it. I was told she had low oxygen so they put her on a tank. I asked if it was covid and they said no. We go there the next day and she was not in good shape. We were told she has bed sores(at the time I didn't know that was a sign off neglect), I was also told not to believe her if she said they were mean to her and that she just didn't want help trying to walk and wanted to stay in her wheelchair. We see her and she can barely hold her head up. She barely said 2 words and she looked drugged. She looked thinner. A couple days go by and my sister is told she was rushed to the hospital. Never said what hospital. Also, sodus is around an hour drive from us. We had to call several times to get someone to tell us where she was. Turns out she did have covid and they didn't send her to the hospital immediately when they found out. Fast forward 3 weeks where she got transferred from the hospital(who tried everything and took great care of her) to a hospice facility. My mom died from covid pneumonia and I 1000%...
Read moreWe would like to give Shaina Olton an enormous thank you for taking the time with us on our visit last week to decide if this was a good fit for my mother. Shaina took her time with us and walked us around the entire facility all while interacting with the patients and staff sincerely. She knew each and every person’s name and you could tell she had a vested interest in this place. As a nurse myself, I have had interaction with many levels of management in the medical system and this was such a warm and welcoming experience. I kept saying in my head, I wish I had an administrator who took this amount of time and energy to be visible. What a relief to know that they can have a nursing home that is not your typical, depressing environment. Most hospitals and nursing homes I have worked at have been dirty and had the odors of sick people lingering in the halls and rooms. This was a completely different setting which had people up and walking around. It was a bustling place with encouragement of getting up and out of bed. There were not any smells that would make you uncomfortable as an outsider. Overall, I would rate this experience a 10/10. Shaina has put a great deal of energy into her career and it shows in every inch of this facility. Keep up the good work. We are moving forward to having my mother move in. Thank you again Shaina! You made a difficult decision easier on us all....
Read moreMy Mom was here for 6 years. I have experienced the staff as wonderful and loving towards my mother, and towards me. Many staff left at one point a couple of years ago and they were very short staffed and overworking those that were there - very concerning, but many have returned and brought with them their knowledge and experience. They love and care for the residents, it's more than just a job. My mom was on the Empire Wing, and I am eternally grateful to the staff. She passed last week and the staff ushered she and I beautifully and lovingly through her final hours. Thank you...
