I was just over there today and walked around the rim. There are an invasive bird population there that are eating all the fish and killing the vegetation. Also, bird droppings are all over, yes I got hit once.

A historical site, one of only two islands in the Finger Lakes. This island was considered sacred by the Native Americans who inhabited the area thousands of years ago. Numerous archaeological digs here attest to the importance of the place. Unfortunately in the 1800's part of the island was used to fill in a nearby railroad bed.
