DK's Cabinet & Floor — Local services in Town of St. Croix Falls

Great before the sale, but sure hope you don't have issues after.

We commissioned Josh to create custom cabinetry for our kitchen at our high end short term rental back in November of 2021. We paid almost a 3.5x the cost over installing Menards cabinets because we believed we were getting a high quality, durable product that would accentuate the experience of our guests - sometimes you just don't get what you pay for.

Sales process, install and initial view of the product (June 2022) was great besides the delay on the install (it was covid after all, so understandable).

Within 6 months we were mortified to find out how quickly the lower painted cabinets were deteriorating and reached out to Josh in January of 2023. During those 6-7 months, people only stayed at the cabin for 72 nights. So the first set of pictures were after about 2.5 months of living.

Josh was quick to say this was a "rental property" and that renters are harder on properties....I have 5 kids under 10 and my home painted cabinets are over 7 years old and don't show a fraction of this damage.

Josh agreed to repair a three of doors and the shoe trim - he was quick to get this done and completed the repair in February of 2024 - almost 13 months after I had reached out.

In the meantime I was going through my tiny touch up bottle of paint like you wouldn't believe. He did provide me 2 additional bottles after my first bottle ran dry. (arn't those small touch up bottle supposed to last the lifetime of the cabinets?)

In the 12 months since he did the last repair I used up the remaining 2 bottles of touch up paint and reached out again to Josh as the cabinets/trim shoe continued to chip at an alarming rate. It's been radio silent on my end in getting a response so I felt compelled to share my story.

I do need to mention that the upper laminate cabinets turned out quite nice and have been very durable, even the floor to ceiling pantry that gets significant foot traffic has held up well - which makes this even more frustrating as I know they are capable of quality work.

RUN! RUN FAST!!! TWO FLOORS FAILED ON BRAND NEW LAKE HOME IN less than 3 years and ZERO ACCOUNTABILITY. One of the worst displays of quality and customer service I’ve ever experienced in my life. The flooring I purchased from Josh that was sold as HIGH END was literally $1000.00 less on Wayfair. Literally 100% same product and amount delivered for $1000.00 cheaper. MAKE SURE TO LOOK AT WAYFAIR BEFORE PROCEEDING WITH ANY ORDER. After 3 years on a brand new construction home, I have had two failed floors sold and installed by DK’s Cabin and Floor. It has been a nightmare to say the least. 4 inspections all saying DK was responsible. Josh did finally agree to replace the first floor but literally was in a screaming match with him in my kitchen because he was not willing to show any inspection results. Literally had no floor for 3 months. Seriously down to the wood! 13 months later issues AGAIN! Two more inspections- both showing DK was responsible and Josh will take zero accountability. Continues to not share any inspection results (WHAT ARE YOU HIDING?!?!) One of the worst decisions I’ve made in my life was choosing DK to be a part of my home build. Run, and run fast! There are much better...

I found this place to be very unprofessional. I walked in one morning interested in a total kitchen remodel. The guy working there made an appointment for a home visit to measure in order to give me an estimate. Half an hour after he was supposed to show up, I called him and he had some lame excuse but eventually stopped by. He took some very casual measurements, and said he’d have an estimate in a week or so. A week goes by and nothing. My husband called after a couple of weeks to see if that estimate was still coming and he said he’d get it over to us. Never heard from the guy again. Very strange behavior. I wish there were more options for kitchen remodeling in this area, but I will keep looking before I spend any money...
