House of Consignment — Local services in Town of Unadilla

The House of Consignment has been my little getaway for a little shopping therapy for quite a while now. After my last 2 experiences I am not sure that I will continue making weekly trips into the store. It seems that there are a couple employees that don’t have a bit of respect for customers or the person that signs their paycheck. Extremely inappropriate music blaring throughout the store ( I was told that it was the only way they were going to get through the day), endless complaining about their hours for the following week, the person at the check out counter seemed to be put out by each and every customer that walked through the door, and did I mention the endless complaints? I have no doubt that we all have a bad day now and then but 2 weeks in a row makes me think that the attitude among the employees is an every day occurrence. I strongly urge management to educate the staff on customer service and how The Hose of Consignment was built into what it is today. I loved the welcoming feeling each time I walked through the door. I recommend HOC to anyone looking to have a great shopping trip and I am a loyal customer that stops in every few weeks. Even if I don’t buy much, walking around looking at all the neat stuff is worth my time. However the last few stops I’ve made have not been the greatest; the once great customer service is very minimal. I felt as if I was inconveniencing the employees when I brought items in, and they were not friendly OR helpful. During another trip the employee was downright rude to my friend and her daughter when checking out. I know finding help can be hard at times, but I urge the owner to be more selective in hiring her employees or she is going to lose the wonderful atmosphere of her business...

This will be my last time shopping there. They need to make exceptions when they have children and people with special situations when they have to use the restroom . When mom spring young children. Sometimes the children I have to go to the bathroom and cannot wait. And sometimes there are special circumstances. When an adult has an underlined issue and they need to use the restroom. And it's been explained to the business owner. They should be also allowed to use the restroom. Yes it's scary where the coronavirus and all. But sometimes you have to go the extra step for your customers to keep them shopping and keep them...
