Sad to say that our experience at Fair Oaks was poorly organized, and borderline non-functioning. I planned a birthday trip for my boyfriend around this drive in because of the good reviews and I thought I would share my experience for people like me who are not local and are trying to plan a trip. We arrive, there's no one manning the booth at the entrance and the directions are not clear. Instead, there's a dude who's standing far away and yelling at confused drivers. Finally, we're being directed toward our movie screen. There are two screens: one is big, nice, and clean, the other is small, dirty and decrepit. Guess which one we were directed to 😒 We go to park and once again, there is no direction. People are parking in the most random patterns, drivers are NOT turning off their headlights and no one is approaching them about it. There were two cars parked backward in front of us that had their headlights on and pointed toward us the whole movie, it was beyond annoying. Not necessarily the drive in's fault, but I do think someone should have spoke with them and shown them how to turn off their headlights (which, by the way, for drivers with auto lights; turn your car off, set your emergency brake, turn your car back on 😉) I will say, we ordered food and it was actually delicious and fresh, the service was quick and the people were really nice! So that was something we genuinely enjoyed. Finally, we're watching the movie, it was kind of hard to see and the audio over the radio is staticky and terrible (honestly I couldn't tell if that's the drive ins fault or if that was my car, so I guess I'll give them the benefit of the doubt) and then... the movie just stops. The screen goes black and we're left with nothing but headlights in our eyes. There is no communication about when the movie will be back on, or what the problem was in the first place. We waited 15 minutes for the movie to come back on before we decided to leave and watch it later. I genuinely believe this place just needs more organization, if there were signs or employees clearly directing cars (where to pay, where to park, how to turn off headlights) that alone would have made the experience better. I see in old reviews that they used to spray paint spots for cars in the grass, that would have been helpful. As for the movie turning off, I get that technical difficulties happen and that's fine, but I do think it's worth sharing our experience given the price. Also, we were able to bring our dog in case people are wondering! Pets are welcome as long as they're leashed. Anyway, overall it could have been an off night--it seems that people love this drive in-- but our experience was...
Read moreThe prices went up. Not just the price of admission, but the price of the food really was hiked. We went to see the new Jurassic Park Dominion, followed by the new Top Gun,which was excellent by the way. We walked away spending way more for food than we have ever experienced before. $100.00 for a drive in movie that used be affordable for for the average Joe and his family. It used to be fair pricing for both the movie enjoyment and and fair price for the food. Times have certainly changed I suppose. We had a nice time, not saying me didn't, but we drove home with a much lighter wallet than we expected. I have always loved the drive in in fair oaks, but this year it seems to have definitely changed. The drive in used to be a place where u could take your significant other or family and feel like you had a truly enjoyable experience and it didn't break your wallet. I don't know how others feel, but this time it literally felt like they were taking people for all they can affordable. Next time I go, and I will, because I do love the drive in, I will go knowing that it it is no longer an affordable experience for a family just making ends meet. I hope they see that people can't always afford a movie theater, and maybe contemplate lowering the prices a little for those that want to have a night out with their family. All families should be able to go to the drive in and not feel stressed about the money they have to shell out. It should be an experience where all can attend and all can afford, within reason. UPDATE 2024- The prices went up again, drastically. The food prices are outlandish. Things are priced as if the families going there are made of money. I understand food prices have gone up, but there's no reason one should pay $11.50 for a single cheeseburger and fries. That's just one example. Even the popcorn 🍿 was expensive compared to a movie theater. I will say that the fries were really good though. They shouldn't be price gauging the food though. Admission itself is $13.00 per person. Imagine being a family of four going to see a movie and eat food. Not the fairly reasonable prices one used...
Read more🎬(Action!) Let's take it from the top... For the last two drive-in seasons date night has been a blast with the the ending of last season with movies like shung-chi, Candyman, and a few classics, me and miss creep couldn't wait for this year's season!! And Right out of the gate the wonderful staff and owners of the fair oaks drive-in didn't disappoint. Not sure if I remember properly but I believe the ticket price went up a dollar but the price for two adults here is still around 10 bucks cheaper than the theater.🤔 And they have a few offers to make an enjoyable night with the family the car load for 30 bucks being one of the best deals oh 1 🚗 load = 5 👨👩👧👦 ( I know it's 4 people in the emoji it's what I'm working with) anyway I believe they also have a package that includes some vouchers for food as well but I don't know the cost 😅. ( Where was I 😏) they didn't disappoint.... Doctor strange kicked off the " 22" season with a bang a long with some new concession stand items like the beef and beef & cheese empanadas! Delicious 😋🤤 now don't get me wrong I'm in no way saying that everything is priced to my liking but the food is amazing and handled with care and respect so you get what you pay for. Need I say more? Yes 🙃 the hotdogs are addicting in a double feature it's hard to not visit the concession and this is where I find my experience with the drive-in begins. 🤩 I get to 👀 the real stars of the show the families huddled around their cars with the kids👣 the couples👥 sitting in back of the SUV with the hood up the group of teens hanging out on the roof of the car blankets around hearing little 🗣️conversations, parents feeling the rush of bringing an enjoyable night with the kids underway. 😢 Makes it something better than just a movie 🎥 makes it a real experience a relic of the past. We have had date night here for top gun, Thor, Jurassic Park, and few others. This is still the best and cost effective weekend...
