Robert DuGrenier Glass Art Gallery — Local services in Townshend

This is something I've wanted to do for years. My lovely wife surprised us with a visit to Robert DuGrenier's gallery and hands on glass art studio.

This was an absolutely amazing experience!

Robert greeted us as we arrived and showed us around his gallery which, in itself, is something you shouldn't miss. I don't have any photos of that but it was extensive and so creative.

He then brought us into the glass blowing, art studio area where the art is created. There were different things that we could each choose to make, Robert then made one from start to finish to show us the process.

Then....

Robert let's you get hands on with each step of the process and that makes the experience so rewarding. He's always there though to keep an errant hand from getting too close to the business end..

One after the other, we had our 'turn' at the glowing glob of glass. It was a great experience just watching my 2 young daughters, using the tools of the trade to wield molten glass into treasures.

This is one experience everyone should have and I highly recommend having it here.

World class artists at work! DuGenier has an impressive 40-year portfolio featuring luxury perfume bottles, chandeliers, large installations, and award ceremony trophies. There are lots of great art pieces and affordable glassware available in the gift shop, which also houses a historical society upstairs.

The glass blowing studio is open a few days a week, and can be booked as an AirBnB Experience. For a fee and a waiver, you can choose colors to create your own glass ornament or flower, all under the careful eye of experts.

I will say: I did not appreciate the tourists who crowded into the hot and dangerous studio to watch part of my paid experience. Social distancing should be a given in any public situation, and especially in soggy months. My companion and I are chronically ill...

Must do activity in Townshend, VT! My partner and I stumbled on this via Airbnb and are so glad we did!! We made some new friends, Robert being one, and my partner made a paperweight after I made a glass flower. Robert and his assistant made everyone feel welcome and safe while we made glass objects. Shipping to your home is an additional cost, but I'm shipping mine to my mother as a gift so it's very worth it.
