This review is written specifically for the property located on Telemark Place in Tahoe Donner. We arrived at 12:00 pm (as we had paid for an early check in). We ran into the gentleman who was performing maintenance of the hot tub. He advised that he had just refilled it and it would take a bit for it to heat up.
It was quite worm (90 degrees). I attempted to open the drapes so that I could let some air in, and the curtain rod fell off the wall. I could see it had not been properly secured when installed. I contacted Tahoe Getaways and spoke with Shawn. He was very responsive and advised someone would be out within the next few hours and that they would call first. We decided not to leave with the small-time window, so we just hung out. It was indeed a few hours. The repairs were handled quickly. He also took a moment to re-check the hot tub and said it was not heating up yet, but to keep an eye on it. We quickly discovered that because the slider screen did not close properly it was letting in flies. Additionally, the window screen in the dining room was also badly torn. With the extreme heat having 2 windows that could not be left open was troubling. It's a smaller home with few windows to start with. (Side note, there were no fans in the house).
On the following day, I checked the hot tub @ 11:00am, and it was cold. I contacted Tahoe Getaways and spoke with Dan he advised someone would be out. We went to lunch and arrived back at 3:00 pm at this time I called to get a status and was advised they were still coming. I called again 2 more times for a status, as I knew the office closed at a 6:00pm and then we would not have a way to follow up. At 5:50 pm, a repair man showed up and worked on the hot tub for approximately 40 minutes and advised it was broken and needed parts. He said he would try to get them on Saturday morning, and he would call with an update. We never heard back from anyone.
I specifically chose this property, as this was a romantic getaway with my husband and I and we wanted a hot tub. Not having the hot tub as well as the time and effort put forth to remedy these maintenance items certainly took away from our vacation and was disappointing. I understand things happen; however, these were all maintenance related and I believe could have been avoided.
One item further, the pollen was so bad on the deck you couldn't sit on anything without cleaning it first. You can tell its months' worth of buildup and they have not cleaned the deck or the furniture.
What happened next.... I was asked to put my complaint in writing and that I would certainly be due some compensation. I wrote a letter to Tahoe Getaways on Sunday July 16, 2023. I received a response saying that I would hear something the following day. The response was an offer of $250.00 refund. My total cost for the stay was nearly $2000.00. I did not feel this was adequate compensation and I communicated this to them. The response I received was we are only offering $250.00 and if you accept you will have to sign a settlement agreement. I asked for a copy of the settlement agreement. The first paragraph titled, CONSIDERATION states, word for word. Guest agrees not to disparage or defame in any respect or to make any derogatory comments whether written or oral on any websites, social media forums, blogs, etc.
With this, I surmised, they were more concerned with buying my silence than taking care of me, the customer. We are frequent visitors to Tahoe, however, I will not be using Tahoe Getaways again.

I had a house booked to clients of mine (10 people with seniors and children) and 1 day prior check in day, California went into lockdown due to COVID-19. Tahoe getaways send me an email at 7PM (Eastern time), less than 24 houra of the clients check in. Clients were coming from out of the country and were in a flight already without knowing anything. We also, as a wholesaler, didn't imagine that Tahoe Getaways would not honor the reservation for a private vacation home, considering all the ski resort and moutains remained open and another resorts were able to check in other clients of mine on the same arrival day. And considering that even though my clients were arriving from a trip aborad, they are California residents and would follow the estate restrictions. After TAHOE GETAWAYS gave me a lot of offensive excuses, they said that they WERE NOT going to honor the reservation and they WERE NOT going to refund the total amount paid to the reservation. They said that the policies were clear, in case of late cancelation, they would be refunding only a % of the total amount paid. Understand that at this point, my clients were at the front door of the house, snowing, kids and old people with them just waiting on instructions of what to do. They didnt have extra money to affort another hotel (which was around 8000USD, the least expensive for the time) and they planned that trip for months aehad. Of course we all underrstand the COVID situatuon and all we aksed was to have the full amount paid refunded, as ithe reservations was NOT cancelled because of the clients and this case TAHOE GETAWAYS didn't honor it. The policies were clear in case the clients cancelled, not the company. I am EXTREMELY disappointed because it is all great when all goes well, but at the first difficult situation, they literally ignored us as clients and also as human beings. After hours out in the cold, my clients had to go back home, spending money for an extra flight ticket for 10 people. Because my company is extrely correct and fair with all our dear clients, I refunded the total amount paid to my clients, even if our policies are also very strict for cancelation. But we all understand the times that we are going through. They NEVER admited that they should refund, they NEVER gave me a chance. So, as of today, i had a huge money loss, honoring my clients and diffcilt situations as i also had the same treatment from several other providers. TAHOE GETAWAYS were the ONLY company that didnt work with the clients, didnt honor the reservation and didnt refund the total amount, just a porcentage. So, i feel that they stole that money from me.They didnt use the house fot my clients, they even saved the money for the cleaning, etc... NOT AN HONEST COMPANY, NEVER WILL BUY AGAIN OR ANY OF MY OTHER SISTER COMPANIES that usually buy from them very often.    Read moreWe stayed at Silverado Lodge at Palisades, a Tahoe Getaways property. The most disturbing thing was that we saw several mice, there were mouse droppings in a bedroom and on the dining table.
We were quite disappointed in the quality of the property for the price. Here are other observations:
General: The house is a nice size and layout but seems neglected. There should be some type of furniture or a picnic table on the main deck so you could sit out there. Without it, the deck is practically useless for anything other than standing and looking out for a few minutes. We really missed the opportunity to sit or have meals outside and enjoy the beautiful setting.
Cleanliness: When we arrived, there was a dead mouse in the shower in the downstairs bedroom (with shower) when we arrived. Also, the kitchen floor was very dirty. At the time, we thought it was crumbs but are now wondering whether it was mouse droppings. Both the main deck and the one off the main bedroom upstairs were extremely dirty and required sweeping. Additionally, all the windows are quite dirty and several screens have holes in them.
Primary Bedroom 1 upstairs (with jacuzzi): Sheets were very scratchy and the comforter is too heavy and hot for summer. The mattress is very soft and saggy. It needs replacing. The room never cooled down as the fireplace pilot light is giving off quite a bit of heat. There did not seem to be a way to cool the room via the hallway thermostat or via the fans. Sleeping was not comfortable.
Bedroom 2 upstairs (with shower): There is a large wasp nest inside the window frame (see photo), and there is some way that they get into the bathroom and bedroom. We had several wasps in that bedroom throughout the stay and heard mice in the room. There is a mouse infestation in this room, perhaps in the sofa.
We were only at the property for a few days and requested financial compensation from Tahoe Getaways, but they took over two weeks to respond and said they would do nothing since we did not call them about these issues while we were there. The one time I did call them, I got an answering machine. In truth, the visit was too short and time limited to devote it to these issues at the time.
