Where do I even start with these guys? My first time coming here was the IASCA sound-off that they did sometime in March. I used to work at Car Toys and have a decent set up in my car. I was told about the event from an installer I worked with, so decided to go and pay the $25.00 to have some professionals rate my system and give me tips on how and where to improve (btw totally worth the money for the experience and meeting some awesome people). The IASCA event was hosted at Sonic Audio. Even though I was there for the event and not a customer that day, they was still a very welcoming and chill vibe from Steve and the staff here. Tonight I came in as a customer I was welcomed again, and Steve remembered me and my vehicle and was able to help install an upgraded head unit into my car, and install my old head unit (nothing wrong with it at all, the new head unit was a wedding gift) into my friend's first car. These guys have provided the best service I have found yet in the car-audio industry, and have gained two new customers for life! Not only was the staff still friendly, welcoming, and honest about the way my previous stereo was installed (which was installed at Car Toys and wires were tangled and everywhere), but they were quick, efficient, and worked extremely well with each other to get both my car and my friend's car done before they closed at 7pm. I left with my car cleaner than when I had brought it in, things were put back nicely, and screws that were missing and not put back in by Car Toys were replaced completely. I will 100% support Steve and his business. He has put in so much work and love into his business and it shows! Read moreSkip Car Toys and come here instead. Sonic Audio is the best car stereo installer on the Westside (and probably the Portland metro area). Steven and Nicole are highly knowledgeable, very friendly, and eminently honest.
They don't have a retail showroom, but that's actually a good thing. Unlike most other shops, Sonic Audio doesn't play the upsell game. Just give them a call, explain what you want, and they will work with you to build, quote, and install a tailored solution that meets your needs and budget.
I worked with Sonic Audio to upgrade my 2013 Subaru Impreza's sound system in stages. They offered really helpful advice in support of my harebrained efforts (my words, not theirs 😅) to install new speakers myself. They quoted me a very fair price and did an outstanding job installing a Kenwood head unit and Infinity powered subwoofer that I bought elsewhere. I also just bought and had installed an Alpine KTA-450 4-channel amplifier through Sonic with excellent results.
One important note: Sonic Audio's pricing is reasonable, but don't expect screaming bargains on components. They don't sell cheap stuff because you won't get good sound by cutting corners. Read moreI had a great first impression with Steven regarding the installation of a new stereo back up cam and remote start in my truck. He explained the process for getting a quote via email and responded promptly with questions to build my estimate and I received it the same day requested I ultimately agreed to the estimate and paid in full while schedule install within a week. After paying and scheduling I received a follow up email advising that there was a part and little labor missed in the initial estimate and to please accept and pay for additional amount. When I received the updated invoice the cost was increased by 50% of the original bid and when I mentioned that was a very large increase he asked if I would still do part of the work for what was paid. When I declined he advised he would be charging me a transaction fee for not moving forward and refund me less the fee when I questioned that he didn’t even respond to my concern with being charged for something that was his mistake and I rightfully didn’t just accept. I have since been advised they will not do further business with me(As if I would want to return) and blamed me for this situation.
