The only reason we go to this park is for the soccer matches our family plays there. One of the very worst designed soccer complexes in the nation, with only one way in and the same way out. A virtual death trap for some people, if a disastrous event, like a severe storm (tornado), happened. It can be like a Los Angeles rush hour traffic jam for as long as a half hour in the poor compact single entry/exit lane! The solutions exist, but like many other similar complexes, the funds were obviously dedicated to other facets and they're doing well to just get land to develop for our children beside the stench and filth of a major waste dump or sewer treatment facility! On a good day the wind isn't blowing it all on the visitors and up their nostrils. So disgusting and repulsive. On a bad day, the fumes from the huge waste dump will literally make people sick. Otherwise the soccer complex is well maintained and tidy. One, fairly obscure, short alternative route dies exit to relieve some of the vehicular traffic congestion, IF the gate is opened, but it's potentially damaging to some non-SUV/truck which are lower to the ground and could loose their exhaust going over the large hump and through the pot-holes. If just a little more consideration and thoughtfulness had been invested, important family functions wouldn't be burdened by such ridiculous unnecessary offenses. It may be just a tad bit inconvenient to park outside of the complex since that would require at least a couple of miles extra walking with gear, or the wearing of some sort of air filtration. If we block off the nostrils, we can breath the fumes in through our mouth and possibly taste the waste. Yummmm! Not necessarily a compatible place with strenuous physical activity! We must applaud all persons who settle for plots of land adjacent to toxic waste sites for their thoughtful concessions to subject our children and their families to the best that America has to offer, and very simply just be appreciative for playing fields regardless the possible heath risk or the stench. Thank you so much, but just so much. Life is mostly about what we settle for, and concessions are necessary each time that we visit this...
Read moreWe had our first and likely last experience playing at Mohawk Sports Complex this past weekend for the Route 66 Soccer Tournament. What a disaster this complex is. Prepare for LONG waits and traffic lines backed up on the highway to try and get into the complex. It's just children's soccer, but the traffic would think you were trying to get into a Taylor Swift concert. You saw children running down the highway embankments, climbing over barbed wire fences, just to try and make it to their games on time. This type of traffic congestion on weekends is going to lead to a tragedy along Hwy 75 if it hasn't already. There is only one way into this complex and one way out. Parking will take you forever, and you may be parking in grass/mud, sidewalks, curbs, etc. Bring a large truck if you have it. People were parking on the sides of the road and extending ladders over the 6 foot fences surrounding the park to get in. That's how ridiculous this place is. 17 soccer fields...and only one set of bathrooms around fields 1-4. The other 13 fields, away from 1-4, not a single bathroom to be found. Grass was like hay. Lastly, enjoy the majestic landfill views looking to the north. Would not return and would recommend avoiding any tournaments being played at...
Read moreDecent soccer complex. And, it is getting better. But, it still has issues. Traffic is challenging despite a second entrance/exit being added. Sometimes it isn't even open/unlocked which doesn't make sense. There are no permanent concessions or toilets on the back fields where most games and people are, just porta potties and an occasional second rate food truck. There aren't any large field maps which might not matter as much if the fields were clearly numbered. But, they aren't. It's difficult to know where you're going or where to park. Finally, despite some drainage being installed, these soccer fields hold water. So, the grass is slightly longer/taller than most soccer fields. And, if there's been any rain at all, be prepared for mud depending on which field your games are on. That means pack an additional set of clothes or you'll be doing laundry...
