Liked · Overall, our stay was very pleasant. The staff in the hotel and the restaurant were very friendly and welcoming, and provided superb customer service. The hotel, casino, and restaurant complex are virtually new, and still exhibit the cleanliness and freshness one would expect with new facilities. We love that the casino is smoke free, which made for a much more enjoyable experience. There is a gas station with a good size convenience store located across the street, which was great for picking up snacks to keep in the hotel. We aren't smokers, but noticed that the gas station sells flavored nicotine products, such as menthol cigarettes and chew. Flavored tobacco has been outlawed in California, but the Reservation is exempt and this is one of the few places left in the State that you can procure these types of products. They also have the most inexpensive gas in the area. They are very busy for these reasons, so expect to stand in a bit of a long line when you check out. Disliked · The food at both the grill and the restaurant was disappointing and expensive. We ordered a club sandwich from the Angelina's Grill. The quality of the turkey and ham lunch meats were the equivalent of what you would get from the dollar store, and the steak fries were undercooked. It was sub par, bland, and unappetizing. Dinner at the Sage House Restaurant was barely better. The food comes from the same kitchen, and uses the same subpar and frozen ingredients. I ordered the bison burger, and while it tasted alright, it was about the size of a burger you would typically get from a kids menu, and there was so much more bun than burger it was like eating a bread sandwich. It came with the same boring steak fries as the club sandwich we had for lunch. At $17.95, it was super expensive for the quality and portion size. The pictures on the online menu show really tasty looking hand cut fries, so to have the steak fries again was disappointing. If we stay again, we'll probably eat at the nearby Broiler Steakhouse, or make the drive into Ukiah for a better restaurant. The machines in the casino seem tight. Normally you can sit and play for an hour on $20 on a keno machine, but the machines don't seem to give you any payouts, so you burn through your money in a few minutes. We aren't big on casinos, so this wasn't a huge deal for us, but it might be important for someone planning a trip here with the specific purpose of gambling. One other little gripe is that the room has a lack of desk space. Normally under the TV there's a desk and chair where you can set up your laptop, in addition to a small table for eating, and usually a comfy chair for lounging. This room had a tiny table with one chair, and no desk or anywhere to sit comfortably...
Read moreStopped in while driving to Eureka to check the place out. Never been there before. My wife and I walk in to 27 machines down. 18 of them have a message stating out of printer paper ( I walked around and counted for accuracy before I wrote this review). As a point of mention it is a relatively small casino. My wife and I ordered food. My order had the wrong side and had a condiment on it that I specifically requested not to have due to a food allergy. A note was made by the very lovely girl that took my order. Her customer service was exemplary. Upon requesting simply a new bun top. I took a bite and it tasted like soap. Upon inspection ,bun top was wet. I used no condiments what so ever. Being a former kitchen manager I recognize the smell of cleaner. I informed management of my concern that there may have been food tampering and there seemed to be a hint of disbelief of what I was telling him. no offer of a refund was made and He did not ask for any contact information from me, not even my name. I will never stop there again. And I would highly recommend not to order food. Very disappointed. But I must reiterate that the two ladies working the food counter were very pleasant and apologetic. Excellent customer service on their part. But the rest of my experience was just utterly deplorable. If I could give 0 stars and leave a review I would have. I actually regret in hindsight giving the manager the bun that I had questions about and should have taken it directly to the police for analysis. Hopefully I won't get sick.
As an addition to this review. To date a have not received so much as an apology from them. We are officially in September now, absolutely horrible experience and service. Never...
Read moreI had an important five-day meeting at the hotel. On day one, we had a few internet issues with one of our laptops. The head of IT at the casino came over almost immediately, and her team made new Cat6 cables for the room, switching us from WiFi to hardwired. They even loaned us a high-end PC laptop and made sure everything looked good, giving us our own login - prettty cool! Tasha checked in with us a few times, but the next four days went well, 20+ participants (hybrid, most of them on Zoom), never a glitch with the internet or loaner PC.
The other hotel staff had all the time in the world to help with anything that might've popped up, friendly and helpful to a tee. Everything here is brand new, and not many rooms were open yet, but my experience was entirely solid for the business trip.
You can get Doordash from restaurants nearby in Ukiah if the cafe or casino restaurant food doesn't strike your fancy - plenty to choose from (though I thought the filet and breakfast sandwiches I tried were pretty good). Unlike the last casino I stayed at, the rooms had fridges and microwaves. The workout facility looked clean as well, though I didn't go inside -_-
Having never been to the area before, I'm tempted to go back on a day off to check out Ukiah some more, as well as the nearby hiking, lakes, and rivers. It felt a lot like the Sierra foothills, where I live, but less crowded.
10/10...
