Gowan's is one of our favorite road trip stops on the way to the Mendocino coast. They have a small barn where they sell apple cider, apples, a varying selection of dried fruits and nuts and seasonal produce such as pumpkins. They have a grassy space, shaded by oak trees that has three swings for the kids to enjoy and it is conveniently located right next to the restrooms. So the kids can have a nice swing and a stretch and everyone can use the facilities. I'm grateful every time I come here because it is one of the few places where we can stop and have ready access to a restroom. We always buy a few apples to snack on and sometimes a half gallon of their house made apple cider before we hit...

I've been stopping here since I was a kid, every family trip out to the coast. I love that the stand is still there and operating today. The man behind the counter was extremely kind and personable. He answered questions and shared samples, he was happy to chat. The apple cider is amazing, love the honey, and the jam. Cherries were ripe and sweet, and so were the strawberries. I walked away with a haul, which the gentleman kindly packed into a box for me.

After dropping my things in my car, I took a moment to swing on the swings in the picnic area and take in the nostalgia of the beautiful spot. I hope I'll still be able to stop here for many...

I always love making a stop on the way out to the coast at this little orchard. It is absolutely charming. However, I feel like it may be under New Management. I was almost sure that the Gowan family owned that orchard, and may have it one time, but I went to buy some of their hard cider there, and was told it was a whole other company just about less than half a mile more west. You can buy gallons, oak tree, apple cider at that little orchard stand. That is my all-time favorite apple cider.

This is the perfect stop for healthy foods before traveling up the coastline. Some of the mid-December foods available were numerous varieties of apple, pears, persimmons, dried fruits, nuts, honey, and apple cider. The apple cider was the best! Not too tart or sweet. They also have a water spot to wash your fruits. Highly recommend giving them a stop.
