TOPS Friendly Markets — Local services in Union City

I don't usually shop at Tops but today it was the only place in town that had what I needed which was ground hamburger for tacos at my son's gender reveal event. My husband and I went down to Tops from the gender reveal location because we almost were out of taco meat so we were trying to hurry and get back so I could fry up the burger and get it out onto the food table before the 15lbs I made earlier this morning was all gone. We did self checkout and left. So clean up time came around and I couldn't find my cell phone. We looked and looked with no luck until my husband says let's call it. He called my phone twice and the second time someone answered! He asked may I ask who this is because this is my wife's number and we have been looking for her phone. The woman on the other end states well sir your wife left her phone on the bagging area here at Tops and I saw it said my husband when you called it and since you called twice in a row I figured I should answer it because you guys were looking for it and the customer after you brought it up to the service desk when she saw it laying there. So THANK YOU TOPS FOR HOLDING ONTO MY PHONE AND ANSWERING IT! YOU DON'T FIND PLACES LIKE THAT ANYMORE LET ALONE PLACES WITH HONEST CUSTOMERS ALSO!! 11/2/23 - Price increase on many items The store will be getting some upgrades, some things have already occurred- which is a good thing. To stretch your dollar you need to shop the sale items and/or their label brands. Otherwise, the prices at this store are quite high. It is unfortunate, as some in our community may not have a vehicle or transportation to other cheaper stores in our area & may have a limited income. Other than Dollar General, there are no other options for food/groceries in Union City. Their pay is substandard and you will mostly find teens working in the store, as most folks cannot live on a part time minimum wage (or slightly above) job. There are some employees who have been at the store for a very long time, so there must be some job satisfaction. Overall, if you shop for the sale items it is ok. But there are more cost effective stores within a 25 mile or less radius. The store is generally clean &...

I wish I could figure out how to post photos and y'all will see the issue. I would say at least every month we have to call anywhere from 2 to 6 times about their food. Like a sub that had flies in it. Then one time a salad made from the deli in the deli fridge with nasty brown lettuce under the chicken and cheese. It's constantly something. The store always seems to have flies and their produce is moldy at times. Then let alone shelves barely stocked with what you need or what's on sale. Then occasionally having to wait in line for way to long. Once I was there and only 2 registers were open and both lines were literally lined up going all the to the deli. Then when I asked if they are hiring they said no. I said well then you need to make sure there is enough employees for more then 2 registers to be open when you have lines long as heck.
