Piggly Wiggly — Local services in Union Grove

Nice if you need something and don't want to go into Racine or Down to Woodmans. Generally the produce is terrible, I've never found a decent bag of potatoes in the store because most of them are rotting. Main tip is to take the time to examine any produce you may want. Generally I go in for the sales, but leave without the produce I want because it's all close to rotting. The meat department is great. If you ask one of the butchers they'll generally get you anything you want. Last time I asked if they had any of something in back the butcher told me he would get some the next day and told me to find him so he could mark it down to the sale price for me (it was the last day of the ad when I was in and the price was going back up the next day). Overall I'd say everything is okay. The prices are a bit high, but the store is usually well stocked. Just don't expect to find anyone to help you at night if you can't find something. Ordered flowers online for Mothers Day 2 weeks ahead of time. I picked out what I wanted from the options they provided and a small box of chocolate. On Saturday the 8th, I got a call from them saying they don't provide the option for you to pick your own flowers, it is by design only. I said okay, that's fine, as long as I get what I paid for an the small box of chocolate.

My Mother's bouquet was pretty, but the chocolates were never delivered. I called them asking politely, if they can reimburse me for the chocolate. I understand mistakes happen. But instead of refunding me the $9.99 I paid for ,I got $4.69. I called back and it turns out another company handles the website and the prices on the site were different than inside. A lady named Kris helped me out and we got everything squared away.

In general, I love this store. Their prices are great, their selection is great, their staff is almost always helpful and friendly. The only issue I have with them on a regular basis is their produce. I've had more bags of potatoes with rotten ones than I would like to count. Their watermelons were horrendous this year, and when I brought back a watermelon that was all rotten inside 3 days after I purchased it, I got attitude from the woman behind the "service" desk and she said they only guarantee their produce for 24 hours. I'm sorry, but I'm not going to waste gas to make a special trip back the next day because your produce is poor. Keep in mind I had two other watermelons at $7.99 each that I didn't return.

I've also had issues with other melons, strawberries, cucumbers and peppers. I think they need to better train their produce buyer how to identify...
