Dollar General — Local services in Union Township

Was not greeted at all walking in. The place needed straightened up in several isles. Was cramped in being able to move around due the the straightening that needed done. I finish my few items found and proceeded to check out where I was not greeted again and then thought the cashier was speaking to me to find out that they were actually on the phone. I felt for her as the conversation was obviously about a loved who had passed away 😔. Someone should have covered her to be off to be able to have those conversations with family outside of her working day. I was still disturbed though that I had to be party to that conversation and was not even acknowledged as a customer in the moment. No even a hold on to the person on the line. Staff is always very nice and friendly until today. I was in sometime around 2. The cashier was a women who looked to be around 50 or so with dark rimmed glasses. As I waited in line she chatted with customers before me and was extremely friendly. She scanned my item, I swiped my card and she snapped at me that it was declined and asked me what type of card it was. I replied that it was an EBT card.. she then got extremely rude and seemed disgusted that I was using EBT and snapped at me that I wasnt doing it right. I'm already ashamed that I'm having to use assistance due to losing my job but the way she made me feel was absolutely ridiculous and I would consider bullying. I hope she doesnt make everyone who uses ebt...

I never had any issues with staff. Yes, sometimes the isles are cluttered with totes. I believe this is times where a shipment to stock the store has arrived. Staff could use some extra hands on these days. I always notice cashiers running back and forth and sometimes there is only one employee when there should be at the most two. Cashiers need breaks sometimes. They are human beings and may need to use the bathroom a time or two. Overall, every employee I have encountered there are nice and if cashiers seem grouchy, they just may be overworked, or need to use the bathroom and can't because there are customers to check out. Two people always and one for back up, an as needed employee. Kudos...
