INITIAL REVIEW 06/14/2023:
I had the unfortunate experience of visiting Pettus Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram DeSoto yesterday, lured by their enticing flyer for an inventory disposal event. Let me warn you, this dealership is nothing but a disappointment.
First off, the flyer had a scratch-off section claiming I had won $1,500. However, when I arrived at the dealership, they conveniently changed the rules, stating that the prize was determined by a confirmation code on the flyer. Clearly, their advertised promise was nothing but a sham. The flyer boldly stated, "if you have matching numbers bring this invitation immediately to claim your prize." Well, that turned out to be a big fat lie.
To make matters worse, when their agent initially contacted me via text, they mentioned the vehicle I was interested in was priced at $50,000. But once I set foot in the dealership, they undervalued my trade-in vehicle and presented me with an outrageously inflated price for the car I wanted to purchase. It was completely different from what their agent had quoted me earlier. Talk about false expectations and a bait-and-switch tactic!
As if that weren't enough, a gentleman with a thick accent and an international background approached us. He had the audacity to claim that their overpriced offer was the best they could do and that it aligned with the market price. Yet, I had done my due diligence and researched the market thoroughly. Lo and behold, I discovered that brand new vehicles of the same model were available at other dealerships for a lower price. When I pointed this out, the man became extremely defensive and hostile, repeatedly suggesting that I should go and buy from those other dealerships instead. It was clear he was aggravated because he couldn't fool me with their lies.
The flyer boasted about offering "hundreds of quality new and pre-owned vehicles to the public at never before seen prices." Well, they certainly got that right—I had indeed never seen prices this exorbitant before! Their false advertising was the only reason I bothered to visit them in the first place, only to be met with disrespect and unprofessional behavior.
This individual's demeanor was beyond rude. Not only did he fail to deliver on their advertised claims, but he also resorted to talking down the brand and insulting other dealerships when I presented evidence of better prices elsewhere. His hostility was uncalled for and left me feeling utterly disrespected as a customer.
I strongly advise against doing business with Pettus Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram DeSoto. They are nothing more than scammers and liars who engage in deceptive advertising practices. Not only are their prices outrageously inflated, but their staff is also discourteous and unprofessional. Save yourself the trouble and go elsewhere for your car-buying needs. I'm relieved that I conducted my research beforehand and didn't fall...
Read moreI brought my 2016 Wrangler in to have an issue looked into. The problem with diagnosing the issue was that there weren't any indicator lights on to guide the diagnosis and the issue didn't present itself every time you operated the vehicle. It was very hit and miss. The jeep will stall out and die occasionally after being placed into gear for the first time of the day after having had time to warm up, It even failed to go into gear after being placed in reverse once and the problems just seem to keep adding up. They couldn't get the jeep to recreate the problem and called me to come pick it up. When I went to pick it up I asked the service department associate who I had the most interaction with to follow me to the vehicle in the event the problem showed up while I was still there. Pam (the service rep) did come with me and the issue did present itself! Pam, who is excellent by the way, decided it best to hold onto the Jeep and start communicating with Chrysler to hunt for problems. I was provided a loaner the whole time. After a week of trouble shooting and failed attempts to locate the problem I was advised to come pick up my jeep as they needed the loaner back. I believe that the service department conducted a search for the issue by the guidelines they are given, but was very upset to be picking up a vehicle that still had issues and issues that have presented themselves while the vehicle is still under factory powertrain warranty. When I asked about the issue continuing after the warranty expires and what recourse I had they guy at the service desk said I would be expected to pay for it. Basically I am to assume that the powertrain warranty offered by Dodge, Jeep, Chrysler is only in place to back a sale with false promises. Everyday I drive my 16 month old child around in this jeep. The same jeep that I cant rely on staying running and apparently cant rely on it to even go into gear at times. I feel as if the safety of this vehicle is compromised. I was advised to call Chrysler and set up a claim. The rep their said I would hear back from the case manager within 24 Hours. I just got off the phone from MY 3rd attempt to speak with the case manager and have yet to hear from them. Its been over a week since I was advised of the 24 hour call back I would receive. Needless to say I have always wanted a Jeep. Loved everything about them. I will never again purchase a Chrysler product after this interaction. I still would recommend Auto Plaza as a service station as I do believe they did what they could with...
Read moreI brought my truck on October 4 for a check engine light. The code reads thermostat. After diagnostics it was determined that the oil cooler needed to be replaced, and it needed a coolant flush. They had my truck through October 18th doing the work. It was $1100. The very next day ! drove to work and the check engine light came on again for the exact same thing. I called Monday morning, and they said bring the truck back on Tuesday for a re-check. Upon ANOTHER diagnosis, they determined this time it was the coolant reservoir and thermostat. They said this was in addition to the work just done over the 14 days they had my truck for this same code. They quoted an additional $1100 for this added repair they MISSED for the same code. They called for approval once I checked around due to feeling a bit hustled. I checked the price of these parts, and they were approximately $75.00 in total. So, they wanted $1025 for labor. I promptly told them I would pick up my truck and take it elsewhere. When I told them I would come and get it they said OKAY. I called them back to confirm pick up and at that point they told me my truck was all fixed and it would be $1100.00 to pick it up. So, $2200.00 for an oil cooler, coolant flush, thermostat and coolant reservoir. There was no discount for missed diagnostics, double shop fee, double diagnostics, double labor in the same area. I had to argue that point with them while at work and finally got the second bill reduced to $880 so I could pick up my truck (my only means of transportation). All total I now have $1980 the two-part service and to top it all they said it may not. even be fixed. That it could take three to four more times to piece part the issue, which I am still not even sure what all the original issue even was. Did they even do a thorough diagnosis or just point, exchange parts and bill me, rinse and repeat. I would NEVER recommend this dealership if you wanted to be treated fairly and be able to trust what they are saying. They are just a money grab shop with no accountability. They don't communicate with one another. By the time I called the work was already done. REALLY!!! It took 14 days for the first service and then magically from 3:30pm one night to the next morning after 3 calls by 10am $1100.00 worth of work was already...
