Krieg's It'z the Berries Frozen Custard — Local services in Vermilion

I have been coming to Kriegs several times a week for longer than I can remember. After today, however, and the rude service I received from the owner’s daughter, Devon, I will never return. The malt I received had a short hair in the whip cream (which I wasn’t even that upset over) and was full of chunks of strawberry which again not a dealbreaker for me. In this case though, I planned to share with my 2 yr old son and ordered the malt because I thought malts were normally frothy and free of chunks he could choke on if drinking quickly. Normally I wouldn’t have complained, but I wanted to inquire if malts are supposed to be chunky so that I would know not to order in the future for my young son. I was trying to ask the young woman, Devon, if she could blend it more to be free of the chunks. While asking her about it, and letting her know I had also found a hair in my whip cream, she cut me off and became very rude just snapping at me that “ma’m I will make you a new one” She didn’t apologize for there being a hair in my food. Not even offer me an extra punch on my ice cream card. She never even answered my question if malts always come chunky. She treated me like I was being an inconvenience when I hated even asking to get it blended more in the first place. Instead she cut me off and made me a new one that was exactly like the first, minus the hair. I would have never approached her about it if she wasn’t going to listen and make one with just as many chunks. She was even ruder when I confronted her the second time, with a bossy attitude and disrespectful tone of voice. I literally left the ice cream place in tears, amazed that the owners daughter would patronize her customers in such manner. Yes I understand the malts are made with fresh berries, all I was asking was that they be blended more. Apparently you will be talked down to for asking such dumb questions if you encounter this woman. Note to self, wait for your food before you...

Update: We have been back at least 3 times this summer. Last night we arrived about 10 mins before closing. There was still a line and let me tell you these girls hustled! I felt so bad showing up that close before closing but that did not stop their great customer service and amazing custard! They even offer a free pup cup on Sundays! You have got to try this stand! To me it’s one of the last real spots for great custard & amazing service!

What a little gem! We just stopped by tonight with our fur baby! My husband got a brownie sundae and it was to die for! Warm fudge brownie and amazing custard. In response to M.allory Hawley... I was right behind you in line and you were very rude to Devin, I have spoken to Devin multiple times every time I get custard and she is very nice. You continued to have an attitude with her which was very unnecessary. A malt is just a powder that you put into a shake that changes the flavor and makes it taste more malted like a whopper. They use fresh fruit in all of their shakes which I appreciate compared to just an artificial flavoring. So before you attack this business think about what you said and what you ordered.
