We have been shopping here for about 5 years and always enjoy smelling the flowers! I have to take a moment to hopefully give everyone reading this a little time to reflect on life and what we have in our communities available to us. Small businesses like this are fighting an uphill battle against the big box hardware stores and grocery stores who are trying to do what Hoffman's does on a much smaller scale, with cheaper prices and in the end inferior products. Owning a small business in our current economic climate is an amazing feat. They are providing jobs and an atmosphere with a casual vibe, yet professional set-up and customer service.
Referring to other reviews, there may be days where things might not be going their way, and they are dealing with small business woes or other daily operation issues. Stay positive, take a step back, and remember what they are trying to do when everything in the economy is pushing against them as a business to keep going year after year. Cut our community friends some slack, smell some flowers, or even try another day if you are having one of those days.
We have purchased all kinds of plants, hanging baskets, vegetables, and supplies from them and realize it MIGHT be priced a little more in some cases. Remember, though, you are buying better quality plants being taken care of by people who love what they do and not some slacker employees who really do not care about the plants at all. That shows in many places, but not here.
As an FYI, they recently added a larger parking area to accommodate the traffic during holidays and the busy season. They have a cart return near the lot, so please, like other places, help them out by returning your cart. When we pulled into the new lot, we saw a cart and took that with us as we walked back to the flowers.
This is being written right before Mother's Day, and they have their buy-one-get-one-free baskets, which we take advantage of every year as gifts.
You will see by the photos and video that everything is easily labeled and the racks and tables are loaded!
Remember, this is a flower and vegetable plant nursery, and they do not have as many tree or shrubs as other nurseries, which do mainly trees and shrubs. Just go one day and smell the flowers and listen to the birds. It is great for the soul and will brighten your day! The colors are so beautiful and you can learn about and see a lot of plants that maybe you have...

My family and I were venturing to Kroll' s Pumpkin Patch, in Waukegan only to find out that you needed tickets to enter this place and we were turned away, as they were full up.
I work in Wauconda and drive by Hoffman's multiple times a week and had a strong hunch they'd come through if need be, so we came back up this way, on whim and it paid off!
We were instantly greeted pleasantly by Management and Staff.
The establishment had holiday themed activities for the children and our son was loving every moment of it.
We browsed and purchased about five pumpkins and made a proclamation Hoffman's will be our go to location not only for holiday themed foliage, but general garden awesomeness!
They had a beautiful selection of anything you could possibly imagine for your garden.
THANK YOU...
Read moreI have loved this garden center for years , although this father's day I was extremely disappointed in the cashier. I asked a simple question and could not get an answer snide look fake wide smile while she quickly swiped my card. She acted like I was the problem when I asked to clarify a price for me. WOW! I left shaking my head thinking how one person could ruin a lovely plant . Every time I looked at it it reminded me of the self-serving rude young girl women. I gave it away. I overheard her bragging on how she loved plants how she saved them from being thrown out. She should be so kind and patient to people. I feel sorry for the Hoffmans they are good people. They deserve better...
