I have been renting this venue for years and have always appreciated its potential for hosting events in the Wagram community. However, my recent experience was extremely disappointing due to decisions made by the current mayor, which seem to be unfair and inconsiderate of renters' needs.
The mayor has imposed a new policy that restricts access to the venue to a very tight window from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., with a charge of $300. This fee is not for a full day but only for that limited timeframe. Previously, I was able to go in the night before to set up if the building was not rented, which made planning easier and more flexible. Now, this is no longer an option.
What frustrated me most was the refusal to allow my decorator to set up on the Friday night before my event. She had a family emergency and needed to prepare ahead of time, but the answer was a firm no. The building was unoccupied and clean, contrary to what some officials have claimed. To accommodate her, I had to pay for an additional night, which added unnecessary stress and expense.
Many residents of Wagram are unhappy with these policies, and I share their frustration. It feels like these decisions are not considerate of the community’s needs and are detrimental to local event hosting. I sincerely hope that the mayor reconsiders these policies, as they are discouraging and unfair to those of us who strive to support and utilize local venues.
I urge others in the community to think carefully about re-electing this mayor, as her policies are affecting our ability to host meaningful events and support local businesses. As long as.this mayor is in office I will take my business elsewhere. Unless the restrictions changed. Its already stressful enough planning an event but to have unrealistic time restrictions just adds more stress. And I speak for a lot of the residents in Wagram.
Wagram residents, please consider voting differently in the upcoming election.
