We entered Badlands National Park through the Pinnacles Entrance, and it was such a smooth and pleasant experience. The rangers were extremely friendly, welcoming, and happy to answer all our questions about the park. Everything was well-organized, clean, and efficient — a great first impression of the Badlands! The views from the nearby overlook are absolutely breathtaking, giving you an immediate taste of the park’s unique and rugged beauty. It’s amazing how quickly you’re surrounded by those dramatic formations right after entering. The area around the entrance is spotless, with clear signage and easy access to parking. We loved how peaceful this entrance felt compared to some busier areas — it made our arrival calm and enjoyable. The rangers also gave us excellent tips on where to spot wildlife and the best times for photos. We truly appreciated their kindness and enthusiasm. A perfect gateway to one of America’s most stunning landscapes. We couldn’t have asked for a better start to our visit.

This was a trip for my husband so I have to admit, I didn't expect to enjoy it as much as I did, but this was by far, one of the best experiences of my life. The day was warm and clear. To spite the construction in some areas, the wildlife was unfazed. What a beautiful place. I never thought I would like rocks so much. We are already planning a second trip because though we saw a large part of the park, it's just that awesome to spend time here. If you never thought about going, consider it. If you've been, go again. I cannot recommend this experience enough. It was amazing.

In 2021 they made a law that veterans could get a free pass to all national parks so I took my DD-214 and my driver's license to this gate at Badlands National Park. The man at the gate was very happy to give me a free pass using my DD-214 as proof that I'm a veteran of the United States Army. But, today I went there and the lady at the gate said no absolutely not. We do not accept a DD-214 as proof of military service. My military veteran status has not changed! It's exactly the same DD-214 I used in 2021 at the same gate. She said no absolutely not. She told me my DD-214 was no good there anymore. I literally risked my life overseas to get that piece of paper. But she didn't care. She could have chosen to let me in the park, but she did not. What changed between 2021 and 2023? Nothing changed! Just a different person at the gate! She loves to turn away veterans and embarrass them in front of their friends!...
