I came into this Dollar General location to pick up a few items — just three things. One item wasn’t in stock, so I ended up browsing a little longer than expected. I had my 9-week-old German Shepherd puppy with me, who is currently being trained as a service dog. There were no signs at the entrance or inside the store indicating that pets — particularly service animals in training — were not allowed. My puppy was calm, leashed, and well-behaved, walking quietly beside me. She didn’t bark, have an accident, or disturb anyone. Despite this, one of the employees began following my grandmother, the puppy, and me around the store. She never spoke to us directly, but instead followed closely while sweeping and clearing her throat loudly — making it very clear she disapproved of the puppy’s presence. It felt unnecessarily passive-aggressive and uncomfortable. As soon as we realized what was happening, I picked up the puppy to avoid further conflict. Had someone simply approached and told me animals weren’t allowed, I would’ve respectfully taken her outside right away. But the way this was handled lacked professionalism and courtesy. This experience left a negative impression, and I’m honestly not sure I’ll return to this location. Read moreI am giving this Dollar General five stars for the excellent customer service I witnessed yesterday. A customer had purchased sweatpants at another Dollar General in another town. The pants had one of those anti theft devices on it that has to be removed by the clerk at the store. It had not been removed at the store at which she bought the pants. She had her receipt and just wanted the device removed. This Dollar General does not use those devices and does not have the tool to remove them. Instead of making this customer drive to the other store, he told her if the same pants were in stock at this store, he would do an exchange. An exchange was made and I overheard him tell another cashier he would figure something out but he was not about to make that customer drive many miles over some sweatpants. Great customer service! Read moreFirst time in this store and last time. When I went to check out there was a lady taking a very long time. No problem it happens. However all 3 employees took turns with this lady. Noone ever acknowledged or apologized to people in line for the long wait. I stood there waiting for 15 mins and had to put down my basket and leave or I would be late getting my son from school. If all 3 of them could do things at that one register to help this one lady check out then surely they could have opened the 2nd register to help other people.
