I was very disappointed with my experience today at Jakes Flea Market. I have been there about 4 times this year which isn't much because I travel around to many flea markets each year. However, my experience here was met with rudeness and complete disrespect. As a seller I have been to many flea markets and an respectful of people and the grounds rules. Most of the time rules and regulations are handed to you on a piece of paper which is your receipt after you pay for a spot. This one does not give that nor do they have clear instructions or rules as to how to setup. When we arrived today we were told the gate of enter does not move back until the sun comes up..this is the 1st sunday of daylight savings time so usually it is already light out when we get there. Today it was not. After paying for a spot there to sell, My husband had to walk boxes and tables over to our spot in the dark with many places he could have fallen and hurt himself. About an hour in I was in a panic trying to find an inside bathroom location and was told I could not pull my car out of it spot and to walk to the nearest indoor bathroom which I didn't know existed at that time. A few hours later, we decided it was time to leave as we were no longer making any money. The sellers next to us were leaving and so my husband pulled his car in their paid for empty spot to load up the car a d leave and we were approached by the owner or manager very rude and proceeded to threaten us unless we pay him 12$ for an already paid for empty spot just to load the cars up and leave! I have never been treated with this kind of disrespect and intimidation at a flea market. Needless to say I doubt I will be returning to this location as a vendor. The other ve does were kind and some even came up to me after the disgraceful interaction with the owner/manager and told me they to have had very rude and intimidating interactions with him and his wife. (His wife was kind to me) It sad to see a great spot like this to be run by such unethical, unprofessional, rude, people. Treat others how you want to be treated. Don't act like people are mind readers and when people are new to a place explain things. We had 3 seperate conversations sir, 1st was about the gate not moving until the sun was up, 2nd was me having a panic attack and needing to find a bathroom, 3rd was about when and how we can pack up and leave. But you acted like you told me all the information in the 1st concersation. Which you clearly didn't.
However, spot prices are very reasonable. If your a vendor, beware unless you like paying someone to treat you disrespectfully. If your a buyer you will sure find a good deal there. Vendors...

Read moreJake's great informative website allows you to pack up your truck for your first Jake's experience and bring your items to sell comfortably & easily. Pick a spot and Jim will eventually come around to collect the daily space rental. Wear closed toed shoes because it is very dusty. Everyone smokes, so also be prepared for that. Unlike anything we have in Montgomery County, but awesome, I will go again. Fries and corn dogs were great, bathrooms were not scary, and we got a few good items and met a few great people while we were in Berks County. Everyone says come EARLY on a SUNDAY, like come at 4 am with a flashlight early, but we were happy to come 7 am on a Saturday to unload some toys and other household items and for the exciting experience. What they need are vendors who sell costume jewelry, that is hot up there...not so much popularity on headboards, artwork, or educational items like leapster & highlights magazines, even if they are cheaply priced at $1.00. Kitchen and small outdoorsy items sold quickly, actually as we were unloading them! Suggestions: pack up your stuff to arrive at 4 am Sunday, it's easier to have people purchase items as ur unloading them off of your truck, instead of staging them and then they get dusty due to ton's of foot traffic. If someone asks " what are you getting for that chair" say u want $10 for it, and they will counter and you should take that offer. Don't tell people make me an offer, that is not how they do it up there!! That scared off most people when we said "make us an offer", LOL. It can take hours to walk around, because people come and go at different times, so new stuff keeps arriving. Bring a friend to help keep an eye on your item for sale: the adults will try to run games on kids selling items, and another caution, some people will make a purchase and try to return to "exchange it" like they don't realise it is a flea market & not walmart. One lady I met said someone swiped one of her item 4 sale when she wasn't looking, it is that much traffic! Well worth the $10 for the day, we will do it again as soon as the weather clears and when we can get up EARLY again! See u there, I am happy because my garage is empty again (except for the new stuff I...
