Just a reminder, most locals WANT shop local but even if you put up plastic the OUTSIDE is STILL the outside. Not even being able to pickup dairy at a window outside on the opposite side of the building in the open air without a mask was a bit ridiculous that and all the signs, I would've gladly gone to the window but I'm not putting on a mask outside to get my dairy from someone behind glass thru a window. Love this place, love my local stores but this was too much.
Ok so first I want to address the comment below referring to the ice cream containing "glycol"which the reviewer wrote is anti-freeze. Nothing is more irritating that those who do not do their research and try to verbally slam hard working, small town businesses..Let me set the record straight, Propylene Glycol is an ORGANIC compound and is used in many products from ice cream, soda, sweeteners and yes, as environmentally safe anti-freeze. Not to be confused with Ethylene Glycol which is completely different and the KEY ingredient in anti-freeze. Both are able to lower the freezing point of water, hence why both are used but one is completely harmless and the other, toxic. The USFDA has designated it as safe for ice cream and frozen foods in this specific form and does not apply to other uses. I have no idea IF in fact PG is used in their ice cream but if it is, it's completely SAFE. Now, about the actual dairy...I was greeted kindly when I arrived and was impressed by the selection of flavors. I was actually there to buy fresh milk, eggs and butter. The kind woman that greeted me explained the glass milk bottle deposit and told me about their products and farm, I felt very welcomed.I Love that they have the glass bottles of fresh milk and have a variety of soda and other local/homemade products. I couldn't believe how cheap their prices were, for farm fresh milk!, even including the small deposit fit the bottle is still cheaper then the store. I know exactly what's in it, where it came from and it's cheaper, no brainer...I will not be going back to the grocery store for.my dairy products again. In addition to knowing where my dairy products came, I can support a local farmer and business and feed my family the best. I will be going back to taste the ice cream and guarantee I will happily and...
Read moreOur entire day planned around this area and noticed the ice cream sign heading into Boyertown, so, we decided to stop back on our way home. Great big building with attached covered porch offering multiple places to sit: picnic tables, some with umbrellas. We ordered our ice cream desserts and sat at a black scrolled wrought iron table that had multiple spots of sticky, gooey smears on it. My husband wanted a milkshake for ride home and as I ordered, I mentioned to cashier that our table had these sticky spots all over the top and one of the gals told JAMES to go clean up the table. He took a white towel and went to a picnic bench and then I showed him which one needed the rag. Now here's the fun part! I had # 267 and all the numbers before me were called PLUS all the numbers after me. Those 5 girls were standing behind the counter looking all caught up when I asked what happened to my milkshake? Oh, it's coming! one girl mentioned! Where's the boss? I'm sure it's quite a task to keep those young ins in line. And make it a point to keep those tabletop clean and shiny as part of your daily ice cream chores.!
BTW: the ice cream was creamy and milkshake...
