As someone who has had 10+ years in retail, when I write reviews for other companies, I like to provide positive feedback. Especially about customer service employees. Unfortunately, today, I did not have the best experience and felt it was in the best interest of the store that the behavior be recognized and hopefully dealt with for future shoppers.
I’ve been shopping for Shipt for the past few years, and normally my home Target is in Rockaway. The past few months though I’ve been also coming to Hackettstown to complete some orders. I have to say up until today, every single Target associate I’ve interacted with in both stores has been extremely helpful, friendly, and a delight to be around.
Out of the 100+ orders I’ve completed between the two Targets, the process has been exactly the same for the past few years until today. For prepaid orders at Rockaway I shop the order, go to customer service, have an employee scan the barcode, check the cart, and I proceed to my car.
At the Target in Hackettstown I shop the order, sometimes go to register four or to where there is an employee available, have them scan my barcode, count the items in my cart, and I proceed to my car.
On my third trip to this Target today, as I was checking out with my Shipt order for two different customers, I was abruptly stopped by an associate named Wendi.
I did my shop, went to register four, pulled up my barcode, and Wendi told me to take everything out of the cart and lay it down on the register. Confused, I asked Wendi if this was a new policy that had been started. She laughed, and turned around to leave the conversation. I stood there, and attempted to continue talking to her as I was genuinely confused. As I mentioned, this wasn’t something I’ve ever been asked to do before. I tried to tell Wendi that I had been there three times today to which she cut me off stating she has been working at this Target for four years and this is how it’s done.
I was not trying to argue, I was simply trying to let her know this was the first I was hearing of this. As I continued to attempt to speak and got cut off, Wendi said she’d call a manager up. I was taken back by her behavior and asked her why an adult couldn’t hold a conversation? I was simply trying to understand their checkout process as it’s changed a few times in the recent times I’ve been there.
Having worked in customer service, I want the process to be as smooth as possible for both the Target associates and myself. Especially since my Shipt orders are timed.
When the manager came up I let her know I was trying to understand the policy and that Wendi refused to hold a conversation with me. I’m not sure if she was having a rough day or what, but it’s unfair of her to take it out on me.
I hope that Wendi can undergo some customer service training to better understand how to deal with conversing with customers and learning how to listen before talking over people. It was extremely unprofessional to continually cut me off.
I’m extremely appreciative for all the associates who have gone out of their way to help me not just today but each time I’ve come in to do my orders. Thank you for your kindness and...
Read moreExtremely disappointing & frustrating experience today with Scott, one of the store directors. I needed a perfume that was locked up & he was nearby so I asked if he could get it. After getting it he just started to walk away. No words. I had to tell him I needed to scan it for an Instacart order. Then again no words from him. So I said where are you going? He very rudely stated it’s a locked up item & I can’t walk around with it. Then again prompted by me I asked ok where are you putting it? He said I guess I leave it at customer service. I get to customer service & no one can find the perfume or knows where it is. He apparently handed it off to someone else, who just happened to be taking their lunch. In the mean time he came over to customer service for something else & could care less about the fact that no one could find where they put the perfume & that this whole waiting ordeal took 15 minutes. For a director/manager level this experience I received was unacceptable. Completely unprofessional, rude, lacking communication & people skills and he made the store employees look like circus clowns. All the other employees there are excellent & I always appreciate their help & level of professionalism. Scott, the store director displayed mediocre skills at best. Oh & they never found the perfume. I had to problem solve & suggest can we just get...
Read moreWhat is there NOT to like about Target? (Don't ask hubby that; he often winds up napping in the car, while I fill an entire cart, when all we needed were Q-Tips, ha ha).
There is a Starbucks inside of Target. Expensive, but aren't all Starbucks' products and locations overpriced? Regardless, a nice treat every now and then, especially for someone not too keen on coffee.
Also, inside of Target, is a pharmacy. If I recall correctly, it's a CVS. The pharmacy manager (I feel terrible forgetting her name), was extremely patient, kind, and comforting towards my husband; a very nervous patient in any medical setting.
The location is EXTREMELY convenient for people within or around the Hackettstown/Mount Olive area, as it is directly off NJ Route 46 between the two towns. The store is very large, bright, seemingly "hygienic," as well as open and spacious.
The employees I've encountered have been nothing less than helpful, polite, and very friendly. Though, being as the store is relatively new (10 years, give or take a few), I do forget about it pretty often.
There's also a major bank in the same "car park" area, though I'm unsure which bank it is.
Overall, Target has a huge selection of pretty much everything you need and want. They also have plenty of stuff you didn't even know you...
