Took a trip out to Mansfield and thought we would visit the Blueberry Patch, after seeing the lovely spot New Day Cleveland did here we were excited to visit. Mostly disappointed with this visit. First, the husband and I stopped by the café for a quick lunch, the husband got the open-faced tuna sandwich, it was very sweet and the tuna didn't taste fresh. I ordered the turkey Rueben Panini but was instructed they were out of sauerkraut so I switched my order to the grilled mozzarella, tomato and basil sandwich. My sandwich was a huge let down, the cheese had no taste, the tomato had no taste and the basil was dried not fresh- actually tasted old and maybe mixed with another dry herb. Not good at all. The potato leek and broccoli soup were okay- tasted like they opened a can & just microwaved them. While we were eating we asked our server to put away 2 pistachio and the 1 blueberry muffin that was left in the case aside for us to take home. At the end of our meal we noticed they put out 2 more blueberry muffins-???? we were confused as to why our server wouldn't offer up the information that they had more blueberry muffins in the back or offer to check, for that matter. We chalked it up to very poor service. Perhaps we should have tried the Quiche of the day....maybe the food would have been different.??

The gift store was very overpriced as was the garden center, hence we left empty handed. Note: not one person came up to us at all to see if we needed help locating something or even to say hi. More poor service, bordering unwelcoming. When we sought out this location we actually wanted to try the winery but found out they open daily at 4pm, so we left to do some more shopping and sightseeing- came back later in the evening to sample their wine.

As for the Winery, the wines we sampled were very good. We tried the Chardonnay, Sweet Riesling. the Blueberry Reserve and the Sweet Bliss. We also tried their famous wood fired pizza- the Vineyard, which was very good! But, again the service (or lack thereof) severely lacking. It just seemed liked everyone was in their own little world and we had to keep asking for things....can we sample your wines (no prices listed), can we have some ice water (1 little glass brought...not one for my husband), had to ask again can my husband have some water (oh, did he want some too...really??), can we order a pizza (waited for the one guy that was making the pizzas to finish his dinner he was eating)....you see where I'm going with this. Finally, we gave up and went home. I would say the winery has potential but the service employees need some serious help. As for the Café, just shut it down. Nothing tasted fresh, they cut corners with everything over there. When something says it has basil on it- everyone expected FRESH basil not old dried shaken basil!! A little bit of salt goes a long way too. Overall, this...

Truly unfortunate experience due to the unprofessional and unethical behavior of the co-owner. I’ve heard wonderful things about this place, but after this incident, we’ve now learned from local authority that she has been known to have this habit.

Just two days before my sister’s dinner in celebration of getting married, she attempted to strong arm her into paying a huge price than what was quoted and agreed on months in advance.

I can see how this would work for her. How many brides/grooms/anyone with a large group would disagree, cancel, find a new location so last minute? Who else would be able to accommodate a large group with only two days notice? What about the headache of telling all of the guests that the dinner is actually going to be held elsewhere?

She actually had the nerve to apologize for her “oversight” but insist there was nothing she could do (as the owner!?) and tell her she had no choice but to pay up. And my sister, the bride, had told her she just wanted dinner only, nothing else, for 60 people, the day that she was getting married. So she knew from the start that it was her wedding day, which is why two days before she suddenly wanted to up the prices, explaining that since it is a wedding it costs more. Excuse me? This isn’t news to her. She knew this from the start. Why only just inform her two days in advance? Also she is getting absolutely nothing from the wedding package. They had gone over costs and sheets months ago that showed prices for weddings and the bride was told to ignore that part, since it’s only dinner.

Truly mind blowing that she thought it was ok to behave in such a despicable manner. My sister, the most laid back person I know, throwing the simplest wedding she can put together to avoid the stress and just enjoy and celebrate this moment in her life, was brought to tears after being bullied by this woman. The owner tried to make her feel like she was being difficult and rude simply because she tried to stick to the agreement and wasn’t budging.

Can you imagine being a person that preys on one of the happiest (but often stressful) moments of someone’s life?

Well little did she know that my sister is not one to be jerked around. Very firm, calm, and resolute little woman that we are all so lucky to have in our lives. And it wasn’t as much about the money as it is about the principal of this very scummy move.

And guess what? Our little bride to be is backed by 60 wedding guests that actually don’t care one ounce when or WHERE the dinner is going to be - we’re there for the the bride and groom, not their wood fired pizzas and drinks the price of a bottle. Profits that could’ve lined her pockets if she’d been professional. But I think that money is much better spent elsewhere, don’t you?

So in the end, this is a happy turn of events for all of us.

And they lived happily...

I've eaten here twice now, and it's a mixed bag in some regards.

The food is always delicious. I've ordered or sampled their biscuits and gravy, blueberry pancakes, quiche, and cheesesteak grinder. There has never been an issue with the quality of the food.

The biscuits and gravy were delicious. The biscuits were light and fluffy, and the gravy was nearly perfect. I would have preferred it to be a bit saltier, but honestly, it was still really good. And the hash browns that come with it are spot on. This meal filled me up easily. They give a generous helping here.

The quiche was one of the best I've ever had. Just try it when you come. You won't be disappointed.

The blueberry pancakes were made perfectly. Light, fluffy, and the blueberries in them were delish. They came with a blueberry sauce and a maple syrup. The blueberry sauce was stupid good. But even then, I preferred the syrup. I don't know where they get the syrup from, but it's the best.

And the cheesesteak was a win. The veggies were fresh and cooked perfectly. The steak had good flavor. And possibly most importantly, they don't skimp on the cheese. This is a fantastic cheesesteak. The chips that come with it are solid kettle chips. And the broccoli salad I ordered as my other side had one of the best dressings I've ever had. Maybe more raisins in the salad would be nice, but I'm nit picking there.

The only thing disappointing about the cheesesteak is it didn't fill me up. I was still hungry after eating it. Kinda disappointing when I spent $20 on lunch.

One thing to note, they did a great job of packaging my meal to go. They double wrapped my sandwich, which ensured it was still hot when I got home. Not warm, but actually hot.

The only real issue here is the service. Holy bejeebus they are slow. Really slow. Painfully slow. Like an eighty year old grandma washing dishes by hand slow. Plan to spend at least and hour and a half here if you are eating in. And when I ordered pickup today two of their terminals were not working. So the poor girl had to run to multiple places to take my payment.

They do make up for that a bit by being super pleasant. So it's not all doom and gloom.

Also, I normally don't comment on decor in restaurants. But I feel it bears mentioning.

Man it's a hideous place to eat indoors. Outside, the building is big and beautiful. Inside it's a hodgepodge of probably five different interior styles smashing against each other. That's why I ordered takeout today. I didn't want to sit with all those gaudy light fixtures around. Just creates a really weird vibe.

Will I be back? Yea, for takeout.

The food is a 5/5. The whole experience is a 4/5. So order takeout and skip the weak aspects of this restaurant.

Side note, they have a great selection of teas in the gift shop....
