Washington Market is an essential part of the community serving as the local place to go for those few essential items you might run out of as well as a good corporate citizen supporting local non profits. Their sandwich counter is also outstanding serving up delicious breakfast and lunch standards at a fair price. It’s also an anchor for the Washington Depot retail. We would never want to see it go. That said there is lot of room for improvement. Besides its’ sandwich counter, it doesn’t seem to adequately serve the local full time resident community as its prices for regular items such as milk, eggs, meat etc are way too high. Nor does it well serve the weekender community as its offerings of prepared foods and more unusual items is limited. It's smaller than what I'm used to and with less variety in the packaged food section but what it lacks there it totally makes up for with a vast produce section and selection of prepared foods and bakery items. They make some chocolate chunk caramel sea salt cookies and they may be one of the best cookies I've ever had in my life! The customer service is top tier everyone is so sweet.
