I brought back a piece of fabric that was defective and instead of being apologetic, I received a defensive, condescending attitude from the two saleswomen there. When I displayed the fabric on the cutting counter to show them what I was talking about, they stood there with their hands on their hips and said, "I don't see it, do you?" The other saleswoman said" No, I don't see it either!" So, I asked for a yardstick to show them how the linear pattern on the fabric was askew at one end. After making my point, I asked to see the bolt of fabric that it came from and one of the saleswomen told me, "Well, it's going to be the same on the bolt!" in an exasperated tone of voice. When I realized they had no intention of helping me, I went to the home decor section and tried to find the fabric myself. Several minutes after I went to find the fabric, one of the saleswomen came over and asked if I had found it? I was unable to find it and was told someone must have come in and bought the rest of the bolt of fabric, which I thought was highly unlikely! They also have a decent selection of notions, zippers, stuffing, etc. although these aren't always as cheap. I did not see any patterns for sale here, so you have to shop elsewhere for that, but otherwise Affordable Fabrics has pretty much everything you need for sewing projects.
I love both locations of Affordable Fabrics, but it's worth noting that this one has more space and thus more fabric than the Rocky Hill one. So even if you visit that location regularly like I do, this one is still worth a stop when you're...
Read moreI love going here for fabric inspiration at such a deal! Sometimes I find a remnant, about 1-2 yards of an interesting print, that "speaks" to me, and I immediately know what that piece "wants" to become, and I can usually find a bolt with coordinating colors somewhere else in the store to complete the idea. They recently expanded into the 2nd floor of the building, and now there are even more choices! I call it a "dangerous place" because I could spend hours there gathering up material for so many possible sewing projects and end up spending more than I intended, despite the low...
