I haven't been here in a long time because I don't like shopping without having looked at a sales paper first. Since the "Shopper's Times" went out of business, I don't get a sales paper anymore, not even in the mail. I don't like the app; I find it difficult to use and it lacks some functions which would greatly improve usage. Today I glanced at the app's meat section to see if pork chops were on sale and came in to get some.
The cashiers were talking together, but when they saw me approaching, one quickly asked if I was ready to be checked out. This young cashier also asked if I wanted my meat bagged separately, and I thanked her for paying attention and considering the possibility of contamination. I really appreciate the paper bags, too, especially when I forget to bring my own bags.
I find Fareway needs to remind its courtesy staff to step up with a attitude of expectation. In other words, the workers shouldn't stand around talking to the cashiers and each other. Nor should they drag around and not approach a customer even when finally asking, "Do you want some help?" A customer should see a person approach, put his/her hand on the buggy, and feel the person wants to help and isn't inconvenienced by the shopper saying, "Yes." And there should be a complete follow-through. The young lady pushed my buggy out but then she asked if I wanted her to help me load my vehicle. I said I did because I have...
Read moreIn a few scant months they have become the best managed grocery store in town. They have all the care of the old Sunshine stores, stock generally quite well, and have a decent variety (and typically quantity) on hand at any given time. I very seldom have issues with the keeping of their frozen section. Their dedicated meat counter frequently offers sales, is quite well-stocked at almost all times, and is preservative-free always. Facility is kept clean to a fault. As with every Fareway I've been to, they have very helpful staff and they almost always have someone to guide your purchase back to your vehicle for you. Prices can be slightly above Wal-Mart but frequently below Hy-Vee, and it's clear where that overhead goes. Best in class for a regional,...
Read moreI’d give zero stars if I could. I was walking near the checkouts ready to pay for my groceries & instead of directing me to self checkout, the cashier took my basket and started ringing me out. No one packed up my groceries after I paid. I stood around while many employees noticed yet no one did a thing. I then bagged my own groceries while in between two store employees who were bagging other customers groceries, none of which were there when I was paying. They were bagging them as they were ringing. The cashier continued to ring out the person behind me in line, growing irritated as my groceries were obviously still on the belt, and pushing my items down farther. What kind of customer service is that? I’d bag my own groceries had I known about the...
