I bought a cabin in Maggie Valley (mid-July, 2019), and High Country was conveniently located down the road on Hwy 19. I had been there a few times before purchasing and the quality of the furniture and selection they had in inventory convinced me to make a purchase there. While I did end up getting much of my house items there eventually, the ordering and customer service were very disappointing.
Sandra did work with me on waiting to order the furniture until after my cabin closing, that is one positive out of my experience.
Most of my problems and angst revolved around a sleeper sofa that I ordered. Sleeper sofas, I found out later, can only be made from specific fabrics. I had done all of the selecting for the cover fabric and pillows early in July, only to find out that my original material selected was the wrong type. I was never told there was limitations to what I ordered until we found out I made the wrong selection and that the material wasn't in stock. We only found this out after I pushed Sandra to contact them on the status, this was after a few emails and then going to the store itself twice (4 weeks after I asked them to order the sofa Jul 29). All of this was found out by just a phone call to the manufacturer. A 15 minute phone call to verify the order and training on sleeper sofa material to the sales person would have mitigated this issue. Can all be verified via email/google maps for visits and requests to High Country. Recommend more training to employees for fabric orders or confirming the purchase so the customer is getting what they are expecting. The disconcerting part was being made feeling guilty about this, by "you only ordered two weeks ago" (as opposed to 4 actually) and "we have to make sure purchasing validates you as a customer" to the length of time it was taking even though they charged my card in early July. Follow-ups or initiating talking to me as a customer was non-existent.
Lastly, my chair table was delivered with other piece for the living room and it was wobbly, which wasn't caught by the store or deliverers. Just picking it up and setting it down it wobbled horribly. They need to improve quality control before furniture gets back to the customer. They did allow me to replace it with another piece.
Their furniture is great though, once you get it. They need better training on selective ordered furniture and customer service. Took a long time to decide to put this up. I cannot recommend High Country,...

The problem is, we have yet to hear we can pick it up. Apparently, one of the chairs we bought was a special order which is why it is taking to long. We understand complications due to special orders. Our biggest problem with this is that, after being told initially that everything would be available for pickup in two days, there was no communication about the problem until we, after waiting for over over a month, made several phone calls about the cause of the the hold up. In the last communication we received, when we again forced the issue, we were told "sixteen more days" - that was eighteen days ago and not even a phone call regarding any progress on a chair for which we have already paid. We still love the furniture these folks offer, and the sales reps are knowledgeable as well as kind, but don't look for good communication on orders. We noticed that the mattress was sagging on one side. We contacted the company on several occasions to see if they could come out to take a look at it. After several attempts someone finally came out today and told us that the bed frame was not installed correctly which caused the mattress /box spring to break down. He also informed us that we would receive a new mattress/box spring at the expense of High Country. He further stated that other customers experienced the same issue with beds not being installed properly.
